In need of capable bodies on the offensive line, the Longhorns added much-needed depth with the addition of former Texas A&M tackle Jonte Newman on Wednesday.
Newman, a 6-6, 315 lb. native of Cypress, TX, was a four-star prospect out of Bridgeland High School in the class of 2025. He was ranked as the 25th best interior offensive lineman in the country and the 50th best overall player in the state of Texas.
Newman was an early enrollee at Texas A&M, and played in just one game this past season in College Station. He represents the fourteenth player the Longhorns have plucked from the transfer portal, joining Dylan Sikorski as the only other offensive lineman in the group.
