http://image.cdnllnwnl.xosnetwork.com/pics7/400/GD/GDHQGBIQQWGECIF.20070408200737.jpgAfter taking two from the Blue Devils yesterday the Texas Longhorns were not able to pull off the sweep today at Disch-Falk. Freshman pitcher John Curtis made his starting debut in a Longhorn uniform and made it through 3 innings, giving up 3 runs on 4 hits. Ricky Jacquez pitched a solid 5 innings and gave up 4 hits with no runs. The Longhorns couldn’t get the bats going until the 8th inning, when Kevin Lusson hit a two run homer leaving Texas training Duke 3-2 as they headed to the top of the 9th inning. Down by only one run in the 9th, it looked like Texas would have a shot at tying or winning the game but Duke scored 2 runs in their at-bat while Texas went 3-up and 3-down.
The Longhorns (2-1) resume play against the Mavericks of UT Arlington (2-1) on Tuesday at Disch-Falk Field in Austin.
