Another Texas defensive lineman to enter transfer portal

University of Texas redshirt freshman Sydir Mitchell has decided to enter the transfer portal, as first reported by On3’s Hayes Fawcett. The 6-6, 350 lb. Bergen Catholic High School product (Paterson, NJ) played in four games last season as a true freshman. He registered three tackles, with each coming in games against Wyoming, Kansas State and Oklahoma State in the Big 12 Championship.

This season Mitchell played in five games for the Longhorns and had a total of four tackles. He played in games against Colorado State, UTSA, Florida, Kentucky and Georgia (SEC Championship).

He marks the fourth Texas defensive lineman to enter the transfer portal this week, joining Aaron Bryant, Jaray Bledsoe and Tia Savea.

Mitchell was ranked as a four star prospect in the 2023 class accoring to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He was also ranked the 25th defensive lineman prospect nationally and the number three ranked player in the state of New Jersey.
