University of Texas redshirt junior quarterback Quinn Ewers made a decision on his future on Wednesday, announcing he will forego his remaining season of eligibility and declare for the 2025 NFL Draft.

Ewers, who started the last three seasons at Texas, finishes an illustrious career on the 40 Acres with a 21-5 record as a starter. He led Steve Sarkisian’s program to back-to-back College Football Playoff Semifinals in seasons in which he won big road games for the program over Alabama (2023) and Michigan (2024). Ewers also led Texas to victory in the first game of the renewed rivalry with Texas A&M, defeating the Aggies 17-7 in College Station. He leaves Austin with a Big 12 Championship under his belt and the statistic of having never lost a game to an unranked opponent.

For Longhorn fans that have seen the program through good and bad times, it is tough to think of Quinn Ewers as anything but a bright spot relative to the program’s resurgency under Steve Sarkisian. Ewers leaves his name in the Texas record books with 9,128 yards passing and 68 touchdowns, both of which are good for third all-time behind Colt McCoy and Sam Ehlinger.

Ewers will become the first Texas quarterback drafted since Sam Ehlinger was selected by the Indianapolis Colts in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
