The Texas Longhorns landed in the No. 5 spot in the first College Football Playoff (CFP) rankings, which were announced on Tuesday night. The ranking comes as no surprise, as the 7-1 Longhorns were expected to make the Top 5 in the release.
Undefeated Oregon holds the top spot followed by one loss Georgia, one loss Ohio State and undefeated Miami.
This is the highest the Longhorns have ever been ranked in the initial CFP rankings and the 10th-consecutive time they have been ranked in the CFP rankings.
Ranked No. 5 in both the Associated Press Top 25 and US LBM Coaches Poll, the Longhorns will welcome unranked Florida to Darrell K. Royal – Texas Memorial Stadium on Saturday.
