Despite falling behind 2-0 early, the Longhorns scored three runs in the fourth inning to take their first lead of the game, one they would not relinquish against regional opening opponent Louisiana. Rylan Galvan’s double off of Ragin’ Cajuns starting pitcher Fluno Carson scored Kimble Schuessler, and Dee Kennedy’s two RBI single began the scoring onslaught for the Longhorns. Texas added seven more runs in the fifth inning, which was highlighted by Jalin Flores’ third grand slam of the season. The Longhorns extended their lead to 10-2. The Ragin’ Cajuns added two runs in their half of the inning to cut the Texas lead to 10-4.
