Sophmore Texas running back Jonathon Brooks was named a finalist for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award on Thursday, via the Tyler Chamber of Commerce and SPORTyler. Named after Heisman Trophy winner and University of Texas star running back Earl Campbell, the award is given each year to the top FBS offensive player that embodies integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community and tenacity.

Brooks, a Halletsville, Texas native, amassed 1,139 yards with 10 touchdowns on 187 carries in 11 games played. He tore his ACL in the team’s win against TCU and did not play in the last two final regular season games of the season for the Longhorns. He becomes the third Longhorn to be named a finalist for the award, which was last won by running back D’Onta Foreman in 2016. Bijan Robinson was named a finalist for the award last season.
