Jayden Shelton, Class of 2025 linebacker from South Oak Cliff (Dallas, TX), is making waves this season for the Bears defensively. With a six-foot-one athletic frame, he possesses the physical attributes desired in a linebacker including great length and broad shoulders. However, it’s his on-field abilities that truly set him apart.

Shelton’s’ instincts and vision are traits that stick out in his game. Jayden stands out as an active middle linebacker with exceptional vision. His ability to read, diagnose, and react to plays quickly showcases his football IQ. This skill allows him to be a key playmaker on the defensive side for South Oak Cliff.

His stout performance in the run game, combined with the ability to play fast from sideline to sideline, makes him a force to be reckoned with. Jayden’s capability to maintain excellent leverage while pursuing the ball carrier can disrupt opposing offenses.

Shelton’s physical play is on display anytime he lines up. Jayden is a hard hitter who embraces contact. His love for physicality contributes to his effectiveness in stopping plays and creating turnovers.

In a big win against Kimball, Jayden Shelton had a standout performance with 10 tackles, 2 forced fumbles, 2 tackles for loss, and one pass breakup. This kind of game-changing ability is what recruiters look for in a linebacker.

The fact that Jayden picked up an offer from the Texas Longhorns in May underscores his potential and value as a recruit. It also demonstrates his status as a target for top-tier college programs. While Shelton is currently rated as a 3-star recruit, he has already racked up more than 20 offers. Expect more to come.

Jayden’s combination of athleticism, football intelligence, and on-field production positions him as a highly sought-after recruit. His impact on the South Oak Cliff defense and the attention he’s receiving from prestigious college programs like the Texas Longhorns are clear indicators that he is a prospect to continue keep an eye on.
