The Texas Longhorns (45-19) will open Super Regional play as the #9 seed against the 8th seed East Carolina Pirates (45-19) in the Greenville Super Regional at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 10th. The game will air on ESPN2.
Texas swept their Regional at Disch-Falk Field in Austin, defeating Air Force in Game 1, Louisiana Tech in Game 2, and the Air Force Falcons again in the Regional Championship game.
East Carolina won their Regional, with wins against Coppin State, Virginia and Coastal Carolina. ECU had to play Coastal Carolina twice after losing the Sunday matchup between the two teams. The Pirates will advance to their third straight Super Regional as they host Texas on Friday.
David Pierce and the Longhorns will be playing in their 12th Super Regional and boast a 21-7 all-time record in Super Regional play.
