Sophmore wide receiver Cayleb Jones will transfer from the University of Texas and has been granted an unconditional release from his scholarship, according to the university. His parents Robert and Maneesha issued a statement thanking the university, Mack Brown and receivers coach Darrell Wyatt for everything they have done for their son. His father stated the family thought it was best for Cayleb to “to get a fresh start and transfer to another school.”
The Longhorns expected big things from Jones on the field after he impressed Texas coaches during workouts and practices last spring.  An incident involving Jones and a University of Texas tennis player ended with Jones being charged with aggravated assault in March and a subsequent suspension from the football team.
As a true freshman last season Jones caught 2 passes for 35 yards.
