As the saying goes, “out with the old and in with the new.” Today the Big 12 Conference officially welcomed Texas Christian University and West Virginia University as full members, soldifying both universities in a conference that looked to be on life support last year. In 2010 with Colorado agreeing to join the Pac-12 and Nebraska likewise to the Big Ten, the Big 12 was cut to 10 teams. Fearing a potential implosion, many Big 12 schools did their fair share of shopping around, or at least did a quick “drive-by” on some of the other FBS conferences. Last summer Texas A&M and Missouri decided to bolt for the SEC, leaving the Big 12 as an 8 team league.  With a revamped revenue sharing formula the Big XII worked a deal with West Virginia and then TCU to become part of the conference. West Virginia made it through, legal woes and all, and TCU leap-frogged the Big East, a conference in which the Horned Frogs were supposed to be playing in this season.
West Virginia brings a 701–457–45 record with them, including a 3-0 BCS Bowl record. The Mountaineers demolished ACC winner Clemson in the Orange Bowl last year 70-33. The Horned Frogs similarly bring an impressive resume to the conference. They have won at least 10 games 4 years straight including an 11-2 record last year and a 34-21 victory over Louisiana Tech in the Poinsettia Bowl (TCU played in a BCS Bowl the previous two years).
With the hello’s come goodbyes. Let’s skip right over Missouri and wave bye bye to the Tigers (and wish them luck against the real Tigers in Baton Rouge) and give an appropriate farewell to our friends in maroon. The ringdunkers, the sheep lovers, the school with the male cheerleaders… While it will not be the same without an annual game against the fightin’ Texas Aggies, it WILL be a heck of alot more mature. No more sophmoric chatter from aggy, no more delusions of grandeur, no more penis envy, NO MORE AGGY. Like a spoiled brat that takes his ball and goes home if he doesn’t get his way, we send you packing for your new temporary home in style – with a good old fashion SPANKING.  Temporary home you say? Yes, it is inevitable. A hundred years from now when LSU, South Carolina or whomever your “new” rival turns out to be kicks your tail more times than not, you will travel elsewhere. Maybe by then we will be ready to take you back in for another beating.
