The Longhorn Women’s Softball team, ranked #3 nationally, lost to the University of Houston Cougars on Saturday in the Austin Softball Regional. This means the Longhorns will play again tonight in the Loser’s Bracket hoping to stay alive with a win against the Ragin’ Cajuns of the University of Louisiana–Lafayette. The loss came as a bit of surprise since the Cougar Softball team is unranked, but not a huge shocker. UH has beatnen several quality (ranked) opponents throughout the year including Oklahoma State, LSU (twice) and Oklahoma State. The Longhorn team could not get the bats going therefore giving starting pitcher and LOnghorn Ace Blaire Luna no run support. Hopefully the team takes a breather and finds the bats again before facing ULL tonight to stay alive in the hometown regional.
