Smithson Valley High School (Spring, TX) quarterback Ty Knutson committed to the Texas Longhorns on Saturday, giving Steve Sarkisian his signal-caller in the 2027 recruiting class.
Knutson, who is 6-3, 202 lbs., held offers from more than a dozen programs including Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, TCU, South Carolina and Houston.
He made the trip to Austin several times last season, soaking in the Vanderbilt and Arkansas games on unofficial visits. Most recently he attended the program’s Junior Day in January, where he received an offer from Sarkisian and staff.
A composite 3-star recruit, Knutson becomes the sixth commit in Texas’ 2027 recruiting class, joining Easton Royal (RB), Karnell James (CB), JT Geraci (TE), Cameron Hall (EDGE) and Cade Haug (LB).
