Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng, a 4-star linebacker from IMG Academy (Fla.), is one of the top defensive prospects in the 2025 class. Recently, he narrowed down his college choices to six programs, with the University of Texas emerging as a strong contender for his commitment. Joining Texas on his list are powerhouse programs USC, Michigan, Florida, Ohio State, and Notre Dame. Owusu-Boateng is ranked as the No. 7 linebacker in the 2025 class, the No. 70 overall player nationally and the No. 9 player in the state of Florida. Texas offered Owusu-Boateng in October of 2023.

Owusu-Boateng’s recruitment has gained significant attention because of his elite combination of size, speed, and football IQ. As a linebacker, he possesses the kind of instinctive play that allows him to quickly diagnose offensive schemes and react with precision. He has the ability to run through contact, consistently making tackles and preventing extra yardage. His sideline-to-sideline speed ensures that he can cover a lot of ground, making him a threat on both run and pass plays. Owusu-Boateng’s versatility is also a standout quality, as he can be used as an effective pass rusher off the edge, utilizing his athleticism and explosiveness to get to the quarterback.

Another key aspect of Owusu-Boateng’s game is his physicality. He plays with a high motor and never shies away from contact, excelling at taking on blockers and shedding them to get to the ball carrier. His ability to disrupt plays in the backfield and chase down runners makes him a game-changer on defense. This kind of impact is exactly what makes him one of the most sought-after linebackers in the country.

Owusu-Boateng has set an official visit to Texas for October 19th, when the Longhorns will face off against Georgia in what promises to be a marquee matchup. This visit will be a pivotal in his recruitment, giving him a firsthand look at the Texas program, its facilities, coaching staff, and the gameday atmosphere. Owusu-Boateng’s decision will be highly anticipated. His ability to contribute immediately at the next level and his potential to develop into a standout player make him a key target.
