Texas stayed red-hot on Tuesday night, blasting past Texas State 15-4 at Bobcat Ballpark behind a monster showing from Casey Borba. The junior slugger delivered his first career multi-homer performance, driving in five runs as the undefeated Longhorns rolled to 16-0.
Borba was unstoppable at the plate, launching a 477-foot three-run shot in the third inning and adding a solo blast in the seventh — his fourth home run in the past four games. He reached base five times and matched his previous outing with another five-RBI night, fueling a Texas lineup that continues to hum on all cylinders.
The Longhorns have now scored double-digit runs in six straight games, a streak the program hasn’t seen since 1940. Their 16-0 start ties the best opening stretch by a Texas team in the last 21 years.
Anthony Pack Jr. and Temo Becerra joined the long-ball parade, combining for five RBI of their own. Pack crushed a two-run homer, while Becerra added a three-run blast late to punctuate another dominant offensive showing. In total, Texas racked up 15 hits — matching a season high — and scored in six different innings. Eight of nine starters recorded a hit, with five logging multi-hit nights.
Texas jumped out early with home runs from Borba and Pack in back-to-back frames to build a 7-0 cushion. Texas State briefly clawed back behind Dawson Park’s three-run shot, trimming the deficit to four, but the Longhorns closed strong, pushing across seven more runs in the final two innings. Adrian Rodriguez, Jayden Duplantier, and Josh Livingston teamed up for a four-run eighth before Becerra’s ninth-inning blast sealed it.
On the mound, Ethan Walker (1-0) picked up the win in relief after Sam Cozart worked 4 2/3 innings, allowing three runs while striking out four. Cozart, the reigning SEC Freshman of the Week, made his third career start.
Bobcats starter Titan Targac (1-3) lasted just two-thirds of an inning, throwing 35 pitches and giving up two runs on two hits and a pair of walks before exiting early.
With their first true road test behind them, Texas now turns its attention to SEC play. The Longhorns will return to UFCU Disch-Falk Field this weekend to open conference action against Ole Miss, with first pitch Friday night slated for 6:30 p.m.
