However, even knowing all of this there have been moments of bitter disappointment…even when you knew they were coming.  While this team has suffered injuries and had to deal with two inexperienced quarterbacks, there are signs of hope on the horizon. At times the defense has been awesome, at others it was like they forgot what they were there for. This is the problem all Texas fans are just going to have to accept with this youthful team on the field.
The offense has been much the same. When the Longhorns started 4-0 we all had visions of fairy plums dancing in our heads; there were quiet thoughts of what could be and what might happen. Then we immediately lose back to back games and we all came crashing back to reality.  Then without any hope there we were with two more quality wins, but then again here came two more losses. Needless to say at this point we all got the picture. It was a season of maturation for the new quarterbacks and also for the young team. It has been an up and down season, and has left a lot of questions for the future. Even with these questions, there is hope in the Longhorn Nation for next year and we still have two games to go this year.
If we can get eight wins this year it will be a great season – especially after last year. Let’s not give up just yet. There is still some football to play. They are just kids and still on the learning curve…but who knows what may take place. You know in their hearts and minds they want to win and think they can. My gut feel is we will either win both and we will be competitive, or we may lose one and still be bowl eligible. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could close out the season with a bowl bid and some real momentum for next year? We’ve got as good a chance of winning as anyone as both games are against teams we can beat if we stay focused. We have great coaches, good players and are positioning ourselves for a great season next year. So why not just win the last two?
