Alamo Heights (San Antonio, TX) two-way player Michael Terry III is regarded as the nation’s top Athlete recruit by both 247Sports and On3 recruiting services. The Longhorns have long been in pursuit of Terry’s services but instead had to wait until National Signing Day (early period) to breathe a sigh of relief. Terry announced his decision to commit to the Texas Longhorns at his high school Wednesday morning.
The recruiting win was a big one for Steve Sarkisian and his staff, as the Oregon Ducks and Nebraska Cornhuskers were in the thick of Terry’s recruitment late. Terry, a high 4-star prospect, spent most of his time on offense for the Mules. As a running back, he amassed 684 yards on 86 carries for 11 touchdowns during his senior season. As a receiver he caught 14 receptions for 166 yards and three touchdowns.
Terry attended the Texas Junior Day earlier this year, where he received an official offer. He then visited Austin twice this summer, which obviously had an impact on him. Oregon and Nebraska received the last visits from Terry, with the Cornhuskers hosting him on both July 29 and September 7.
Terry’s commitment vaulted the Longhorns into the No. 1 position in team recruiting rankings for both 247Sports and On3.
