The 7th-ranked Texas Longhorns had a commanding performance on Tuesday, March 25, at UFCU Disch-Falk Field, defeating Sam Houston State with a 13-3 run-rule victory. The game was called in the seventh inning due to the mercy rule, highlighting the Longhorns’ continued success on the season.

Left-handed pitcher Kade Bing (1-0) earned his first win in burnt orange, pitching the first four innings, allowing two runs, and striking out four. Sam Houston starter Danny Valadez (2-2) took the loss after lasting just two innings, giving up four runs on six hits.

Six different Longhorns recorded multi-hit games, led by second baseman Ethan Mendoza’s three-hit night.

exas smashed three home runs, with shortstop Jalin Flores hitting a go-ahead three-run blast in the third inning. Flores recorded his ninth multi-hit game and finished with a season-high four RBIs.

In the fifth inning, third baseman Adrian Rodriguez added to the home run tally with a two-run shot into the YETI Yard. Three batters later, center fielder Will Gasparino launched a 438-foot homer, extending the lead to 10-2.

Designated hitter Jayden Duplantier delivered the walk-off hit in the seventh inning, sparking a celebration from the first base dugout.

Texas next travels to Columbia, Missouri this weekend for a three-game series against the Missouri Tigers.
