The College Basketball transfer portal opened earlier this week, and two Longhorns declared their intentions to leave Texas on Thursday. F Nic Codie announced his departure on Instagram, with Wilcher’s departure being reported by Pete Nakos of On3.
Codie opened the 2025-2026 season as a starter, but saw his minutes decrease during conference play. Lassina Traore played his final game for Texas on February 3rd, opening the door for Codie to rejoin the rotation. In the round of 32 game against Gonzaga, Codie had a season high 12 points.
Wilcher joined Texas after two seasons at St. John’s, but struggled offensively (36% from the field, 32% from conference play) and scored only 4 total points in the 4 tournament games Texas played. The departure of Wilcher means the Longhorns will be replacing the entire backcourt from his season, as Jordan Pope, Tramon Mark, and Chendall Weaver have no eligibility left.
Dailyn Swain declared for the NBA draft earlier this week, meaning the only scholarship players set to return to Texas at this time are F Camden Heide, C Matas Vokietaitis, F Declan Duru, F John Clark and C Lewis Obiorah. Clark and Obiorah redshirted this past season.
