After a short and controversial career on the Forty Acres, Texas point guard Myck Kabongo went undrafted during the 2013 NBA Draft.
He has signed a free agent deal with the world champion Miami Heat today and will play in their annual Summer league, according to Alex Kennedy.
Kabongo played only 13 games in 2012-13 after being suspended for 27 games following his trip to Cleveland with former teammate Tristan Thompson last summer. The only problem with the visit was that Thompson’s agent was in attendance, thus a violation in the eyes of the NCAA.
Kabongo, 6-foot-2, 170-pound floor general, had a decent freshman year, earning All-Big12 honorable mention, averaging 10 points and five assists per contest for Rick Barnes and the Longhorns.
He showed improvement his sophomore campaign, pouring in 12 points and seven dimes per night.
But the pipeline from Findlay Prep in Nevada to Texas that brought Thompson, Kabongo, Avery Bradley, and Corey Joseph produced exactly one NCAA tournament victory.
