The Texas Longhorns (3-0, 0-0 SEC) ascended to the top spot in this week’s Associated Press Top 25 Poll following their 56-7 dismantling of UTSA on Saturday night. Texas previously held the No. 2 spot but leapfrogged Georgia with the pollsters following an emphatic win over the Roadrunners coupled with a narrow 13-12 Bulldog victory over unranked Kentucky in Lexington. Despite losing Heisman frontrunner Quinn Ewers in the first half of the game, Steve Sarkisian’s offense did not miss a step behind backup quarterback Arch Manning. Manning accounted for 5 total touchdowns (4 passing and one running) and finished a short night completing 9 passes for 223 yards.

The Longhorns haven’t seen the No. 1 Spot in the AP Top 25 Poll since 2008.
