The Texas Longhorns (36-23) are facing elimination in the College Station Regional after letting Saturday night’s game against Texas A&M slip away in eleven innings.
Things started off well for the Longhorns, when leadoff batter Jared Thomas took the first pitch of the game over the left field wall to give Texas a 1-0 early lead.
Caden Sorrell’s solo home run off of starting pitcher Lebarron Johnson Jr. in the fifth inning knotted the score at 1-1.
Texas answered in the sixth inning thanks to Kimble Schuessler’s solo shot, his 10th of the season, to give the Longhorns a 2-1 lead.
The Aggies tied things up in the eighth inning on a throwing error by Jalin Flores.
The game lasted eleven innings with Texas A&M scoring two runs in their half of the frame. The Longhorns were unable to answer and fell 4-2.
Lebarron Johnson Jr. pitched five innings and gave up just one run off of two hits. Andre Duplantier took the loss for the Longhorns on the mound, giving up two runs and a hit in 1 1/3 innings pitched.
The Longhorns will face Louisiana in an elimination game at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday. The winner will play undefeated Texas A&M at 7:00 p.m.
