Your thoughts on Strongs assembling a staff

I was thinking about the indications that Strong sold himself during the interview process.

One thing mentioned was his willingness to assemble a stellar staff.

Indications are who he brings in on offense, specifically OC will be key.

I started to think of similar circumstances and came up with Stoop's hiring at OU in 1999.

Known as a defensive minded coach by trait, Stoops hired staff on the offensive side such as Leach and Mangino

if I remember correctly. Leach being somewhat of an unknown. That showed instant success and won a NC in year 2.

Stoops went out and got a JC QB in Josh Hepuel. A need for us now, no?

It also allowed him to focus on defense and recruiting.

I am not certain Brown has left him the talent Blake left Stoops.

I feel the offensive selections will be huge. Duplicating Stoops efforts beginning in 1999 would not be bad.

I brought up Mangino in another thread about OL coach. He was a hell of an OC/OL coach under Stoops. Wouldn't mind him on this staff.

You know he was and is a damn good coach.

Kansas winning the Orange Bowl comes to mind.

His teams were tough and well coached I thought.

His deal is he weighs 400 lbs. which cost him bigger job opportunities I bet.

Weight wasn't his only issue.
