Your Expectations for Next Season

No worse than 9-3 and be very competitive in every game. Field the Big 12's #1 ranked defense.
Let's set the bar high
We are Texas, and you sir are right. Hook'em.

My question to you is, what are your realistic expectations regarding this upcoming season's W-L record? Yes we'd all like to win out and bring home another NC-- and I hope that happens, but realistically what do you think?People's expectations for the HC position were all over the place. So I just wanted to gauge what the general consensus was here at HS.
I posted this the other day. Just my thought son next season.

Reading this thread it is obvious that Mack has wildly succeeded in dumbing down expectations at UT. If Malzahn can take 3-9 Auburn to the MNC game in one year playing a SEC schedule, why should UT's expectations be any less after an 8-5 and playing for the conference championship in the last game in the Big 12????? UT has the best returning talent in the Big 12. If UT does not win at least 10 and the conference in 2014, Patterson hired the wrong head coach. This
THIS- is misguided, you're talking about an Auburn team that won w a first year head coach that stepped into the very unique situation of having recruited a number of players to the school while he was an assistant. I do believe that Texas have talent on the team, but to say they return the most talent in the Big 12, that's debatable at best. The Big 12 was down this year. Art and the bears, Oklahoma, who rolled Bama(yeah I know the Cotton bowl, but who saw that coming.), and Ok ST will all be tough teams. Also take into account that Texas will have UCLA, they play a tough schedule. I think the talent is there there for 8-10 wins, but to say that it's conference title or bust is a bit unfair for a coach in his first season.

What I expect to see is a team full of young men that carry themselves completely different, instead of believing that the opposing teams should fear them because of the name across the front their jersey, the will go into games with the same mentality as their head coach, I expect to see hunger, and I expect to see both and offensive and defensive line that punches the other team in the mouth.

I expect to see the quarterback position figured out. I hope that Ash is good to go, but if he can't I expect to see whoever is behind him ready to go. I also hope to see a transfer Qb on the roster to allow a certain incoming freshman the opportunity to red shirt.

I predict 9 wins

Excellent post. I think the RRR is a toss up though-- battle of Knight vs. Ash/Swoopes, maybe Heard? But I'd be happy with that outcome.

The real excitement will come in Strong's second and third season when he's had time to lay the groundwork. Next should be good and it'll only get better with time.

The record next year will depend greatly on whether we have a quarterback. Just have to have one to have a real good season. I would not put a lot of pressure on Strong to win next year.

Not counting the bowl 8-4 to 10-2. It will depend on the OC and our QB.

I would like to see the top D in the Big XII and top ten in the country. Like a lot of people have said it will be how we play that I'll be watching.

I'll be happy with being over .500 the first year and seeing a massive change fundamentally. I believe they can do better, but I understand that in some cases good change comes in time. Ultimately, like HornEsch said, I want to see a culture change in the program.
