This site and I owe each other nothing.  I joined some months ago, brought my Big 12 roster breakdowns, generated little meaningful discussion, and pretty much left.  I haven't been reading this forum or the articles here.  The only reason I commented on this particular article is that it popped up in a google news search re: Jarrett Allen.

I am livid that a UT fan site writer has adopted the Evan Berkowitz strategy of getting on his knees before Bill Self and ministering to his needs.  He wants to think Bill Self is a wonderful coach who develops stars out of power forwards?  Great, he can think that.  He wants to write that in support of a plea for a prospective UT recruit to go to Kansas instead, then he damn better well be able to back up his opinion with facts.  Sure, KU put a few guys in the lottery.  I'll grant Mr. Flanagan that, but he does the UT athletic department and fanbase a disservice by expounding the virtues of KU without also at least mentioning the difficulties that many highly regarded prospects that attended KU have faced in their NBA careers.

Six months ago I found Horn Sports to be largely useless.  Yesterday I found it to be infuriating, and I wasn't even trying to find it.
Well...bye.

1. I will grant you that you made a good point on KU's big men in the NBA, However, you for Cole Aldrich who makes 1.1 million last season so I did find 1 KU big man who played for Self who is making more than 6 figures playing basketball.

2. And this will be very long.

I don't write to sunshine pump a fan base.

Do I like covering the Texas Longhorns? Yes. The program is a massive entity in the world of college sports. It draws the ire and admiration of many people. Here's the thing about recruiting, and I have been following it for nearly a decade now, kids get enamored with numbers. Sure, you can point out that nearly every single KU big under Bill Self has yet to make an impact on the NBA. However, the Kansas Jayhawks would frame it as "Look how many NBA lottery picks we have under Bill Self". Every team puts their best foot forward and no 17-18 year old believes they will be a NBA bust going to Kansas, they believe they would buck that trend. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if Bill Self doesn't already have that as his comeback line.

And please, I could care less about Kansas Basketball. I went to Mizzou. I was front row at Arrowhead when #4 Mizzou beat #2 Kansas in 2007 screaming my tail off with a Jayhawk in a noose.

Recruiting is a fickle game. If Jarrett Allen was so dead set on Texas, why didn't he sign the LOI? Because he hasn't made a decision. Maybe he is waiting on Marques Bolden to pick before announcing his intentions lending credence to Kentucky fans saying that if Bolden goes to Duke, Allen with go to Kentucky. Maybe, or he didn't want to sign a LOI just to avoid having the penalty for transferring. Who knows at this point because he doesn't make anything known to anyone.

Is Chip right that Kansas is out? Who knows. All I am saying is the only thing Jarrett Allen has said about his recruitment in months was that he tweeted saying that Kansas was still on his list. Now why would he do that if he was a lock to Texas? Because he isn't and there is a good possibility he goes elsewhere.

That doesn't mean he doesn't go to Texas. He can still decide to do that. However, if you want someone to blow smoke up your butt, fine. I won't do it unless it's warranted.

I work on a great site with great editors and contributors who are objective writers and have never once told me I couldn't write about something because it wasn't "pro-Texas" but that's the problem with the consumption of media in the 21st century. No one wants to be challenged on their pre-conceived notions. You see it with politics with Fox News and Breitbart on the Right and MSNBC (even though recently they have made a push to be CNN lite)  or (insert website here) on the left. Or in Entertainment with Kim Kardashian and Beyonce/Jay-Z. Everyone already knows everything about every situation and any information that is contradictory must be wrong and the worst thing ever. So instead of challenging readers to think outside their perspectives, we have numerous websites that cater to your desired beliefs. Man, we are going to be one messed up country moving forward if we can't understand the other's perspectives and how that may shape the world.

You are right, you owe me and Horn Sports nothing. That's your right to go elsewhere. But I will not change what I write about nor how I write an opinion piece. And I will tell you right now, people at Baylor are not going to like my next piece that I can tell you. So with that I end this post, you're free to disagree with me and even call me names, but don't expect to have sunshine pumped through your veins by me.

Well done young Flanagan. You even invoked the name of Kim Kardashian. Sheet. lol
