Guys-
I realize everyone is checking this site, OB, IT, BC, SB, etc. right now craving information. You have mods on one site saying one guy is the front-runner and then the next day it's another guy, and the following day it's yet another guy. Keep in mind, just because someone is interviewing for a job doesn't mean that is the lead person to get the job. It simply means schedules allowed for the meeting to take place at that specific date and time just like in our real work World that we live in. HC opening at Texas or not, these Head Coaching candidate still have their own jobs to do. Furthermore, they also have families that they have unintentionally ignored during the Fall that they are trying to spend more time with. Oh, and they also have holidays just like we do as well. There is a reason Steve Patterson continues to interview folks which brings me to my next point.
You don't run off an icon like Mack Brown to replace him with a relatively unproven Charlie Strong or a Jim Mora, Jr or a James Franklin without swinging for the fences first. To date, there has been no mention of an official interview with Jimbo Fisher who at this point is arguably one of the best Head Coaches in all of College Football. Why is that? Scheduling availability. If you want a great coach well then typically the great coaches coach the last meaningful Bowl Game of the season and that is the case with Jimbo. We have waited this long. If Saban turns us down today at 5:00, and at this point I suspect he may, then what difference does it make if we name a Head Coach today or next Friday? It doesn't! I can assure you Jimmy Sexton & Steve Patterson have discussed preliminary figures to qualify that Jimbo would be interested. Hell, Jimbo & Saban share the same agent! This deal could be wrapped-up by Wednesday if we needed it to be.
So before anyone goes jumping off of any bridges because another site said ____ ______ is now being targeted for the job keep in mind that there are multiple targets out there just in case. We haven't even gotten rejected from Saban yet. RELAX. Patterson is no dummy. He is not going to go "broken arrow" here. He is extremely politically savvy and there is NO WAY he makes a decision like this without a consensus behind him. It would be his funeral if he did.
