Well this sure has been an eventful night. It's gong to take me a few more hours to digest it. But it appears that those who had done a masterful job in getting Saban to the door step underestimated the power of Mack Brown and Bill Powers and overestimated their power and influence to get Mack to step away which eventually led to Sexton/Saban walking from the deal because they could not get Mack out..

hey mike...yeah this has deff been friday the 13th...any news on what js is reporting on it ..is there any way mack is gone or is it mack 2014...? im still saying hes gone and this was all a power play between him and powers to run of saban..mack didnt look happy at all and all he had to say was i look forward to the bowl game and 2014 but he didnt..

I think some will push even harder after tonight's events to get Mack out.

I have calmed down.

I also watched the Banquet on LHN.

Based on that I heard, more of how it was said rather than what was said, and what I saw, especially the body language and facial expressions, I am not convinced he is staying for 2014. Maybe I am completely wrong, but it looked like a last run through without anyone actually saying it was.

Perhaps someone else who also watched can confirm or disagree?

i agree he could have ended it but so could have saban last week on espn..

It appears that Powers is the guy that makes the choices here and no one else. Clearly nobody had powers as a source.

Mack needs to see at least 20,000 empty seats in the AlamoDome.

But he'd blame the loss on the lack of fan support.

So then why completely take over a banquet that's meant for the kids' achievements to be recognized and make it your own personal glory stage?

Give Him Credit, I guess.

I have been thinking about this. Let's first consider our top two octogenarian jumbo donors -- McCombs and Jamail, the two prictly billionaires whose names are splashed all over the place. How much have they given already? How much longer can these two have? And, then the clenching question - how much have they planned to leave to UT through estate planning? Probably billions each.

So now put yourself in Powers' shoes, who you say is the one and only person making this decision. What if those two guys alone want you to do one thing while you want to do another? Again, if your were Powers, would you be willing to risk it? Would you be willing to go against them on this big call on the chance that it might cost your institution billions? And over something as silly as football, which you do not really care much about in the first place?
