What has happened to Orangebloods posters?

I'll admit that I can be an ass when it comes to Rick Barnes, as my personal feelings for who Barnes is as a person clouds my perception. Hands down the best coach that Dodds every hired given the historical state of the program compared to football and baseball. I can admit that it might be time for Barnes to retire, but I hope that a tourney win or two and Turner gets him another year and one more shot at a long tournament run.
So if I come off as gruff I apologize as I don't mean your points aren't valid, just that I would really like to see Rick get another Final 4 run here at Texas.

Good post. Barnes has this team playing good basketball right now.

let me preface what i'm about to say with this: I am a member of orangebloods. I have been for the last 4 years. I find their news and information to be top notch. I believe they do their best to report news accurately and vet their sources. I find geoff and chip to be top reporters and i value their reports and information they provide.
However, over the last 12 months, it seems that i can't post anything without attacks on my character, my intelligence or even people claiming things about me without even knowing me. I get tired of the message board antics. It seems that 99% of the posters are interested in insulting or attacking the op and subsequent replies. Has anyone else noticed this behavior or am i only seeing what irritates me?

Dizz what were you banned for? I must've missed that.

^^ I've always defended Barnes, but I have to confess I've been on the get rid of Barnes train since Durant and company lost to USC. His insistence on teaching lessons on a public stage rubs me the wrong way (J'Covan comes to mind), but I'm not a coach so who am I to say what's right or wrong. He does have an extremely young team playing pretty good right now, but the jury is out until later in the year. It seems his teams always start off strong then fade toward the finish line. I still can't believe a few years ago they went from #1 to unranked. Here's to hoping they stay focused and give Barnes a great final year if indeed they go on another direction.

Winning solves everything. People tend to be short-tempered or have the need to vent because of frustration over the lack of success football is experiencing.

OB is tame compared to other boards I am on. Mostly music related.

You guys are all idiots and this board is horrible!
Oops, wrong board. ;)

I think the grown up table is the best analogy for what HornSports has become. I've been a member of OB since the Wash St Holiday bowl debacle, but I rarely ever post there. I only lurk, just because of all the reasons mentioned above. I haven't been active here yet, but I really want to be because from what I've seen so far there are actual discussions here. On OB, and even IT, most discussions end up one of two ways; a full on bullying session or a gif war. Don't get me wrong I love funny gifs as much as the next guy, but they get old when trying to have an actual discussion.

Another thing that kills OB for me is the constant infatuation with "blasting". To clarify, I'm a hetero male so of course it's a weird complaint. But I am also a 39 year old happily married man, and it pisses me off that I am tentative to scroll through a thread while my wife is beside me on the couch. My wife is almost as big a Longhorn fan as I am and I'd like to be able to show her threads without a half naked chick or some perverted gif showing up. (Exception being the Lucci gif - that one should be universally accepted in any situation!)

In general, this board is off to a phenomenal start and I'm looking forward to being an active part of the family and excited to see where it grows from here.
I could not agree more! My sentiments exactly, Bustonius. I've been a member OB for not quite a year now and basically just lurk for all the reasons already expressed. I'm hetero male as well but find it somewhat disingenuous for Geoff to go on his "Redskins" tirade showing us how sensitive he is to the feelings of Native Americans, as an example, and yet allows sexually explicit and, in my opinion on many cases, degrading to women pictures and gifs. Where is the same sensitivity to women's feelings and how they are typically portrayed on OB? I know I sound like an ol' fuddy duddy but I prefer to keep it classy.

Ok, I will get off my soap-box now.

The constant attacks are the reason I left too. The quality of posters on this site is off the charts compared to ob.

I was an original member of theUniversity.com which became OB. Was a member until last month. No Mas.
WOW!! I didn't realize that you had dropped your sub over there. I know '78 is about to leave and so am I.

My problem is I don't like the personal attacks. I also have a problem with the information being shared with the paying customers as first having to be edited and approved by Bellmont before being posted.

Don't take this as a personal attack but it's about time you got out of bed.

the worst thing is Ketch nor Jason even care. I've exchanged emails back and forth with Ketch and actually got an F-bomb dropped on me for no reason. it was a civil discussion previously. Just unprofessional. Yeah one individual posters 99 bucks for a years membership may not be a lot to Ketch in the grand scheme of things, but it adds up over multiple people who feel the same way

I just dont understand why they dont care what more than a few paying customers think. Lots of people have left yet they dont seem to care.

I left OB a year ago still have some good friends over there. I just got tired of wading through the trash talking. There are a few aggie turd heads that has been allowed to get a foothold on OB. Ketch kick them off but I feel that he allows some to stay to keep things stired up. I really don't like sharing the Internet with an aggie low life. My friends y'all have a great day

Lets just say it wasn't entirely my decision and leave it at that.

Really kinda sad too. I remember my Dad handing out flyers, I assume at Ketch's request, at the 200 Club in the first months of OB announcing this "new" UT website. My Dad didn't post once, not once, but read the board almost every day just to stay up on what was being said. He would read something posted, often by a Mod as fact, and call me and yell at me! He would say, " that's a bunch of crap! We never offered that kid!" Or, "how can they say that, we never have done that!" Or something like, "Do they even understand that kids playing out of position? We don't have a real pass catching Tight End!" Or something to that effect. He yelled at me as if I knew about the bad info and allowed it or could do one thing about it.

It always cracked me up. Just loved his love for the Horns. I bet there are only a hand full of people in the history of the University that gave a greater percentage of their time and net worth to UT.

I only keep my sub for the Henley/Dank Bank posts post-GOT episodes.

When I was still at Orangebloods, echeese e-mailed me and told me about 24/7. He suggested I give it a try.

I did and joined. Shortly afterwards, El Mahico posted something interesting on OB. I e-mailed him and asked him if he could also post that on 24/7.

Ketch found out about the e-mail and pitched a fit. He e-mailed me telling me that I was undermining his business and banned me from posting on OB for 6 weeks.

That was all I needed. I started wondering why I was giving the douche nozzle $100 a year. That was essentially the end of OB at my house.

I could not agree more, it has turned into a tank filled with piranhas . All the good posters of old are either just lurking or have been run off. Plus Ketch has a problem with any slightly political topic that does not mess with his opinion.....Sad.

It all for me seems to have started going downhill when he started playing radio.

I've been a member there for about 12 years and I think my time is coming to an end. The hardest part about giving up on the sub is that Ketch has actually been very generous to me over the years. I had a pretty bad car accident a few years back and Ketch comped by sub for a year while I was getting over it and then when I had a couple of issues and was about to drop he comped me again.

Ketch comped me too and I'm grateful for that. However, I do believe I brought some value to his site. Looking back on it, I'm thankful that OB gave me the opportunity to get to know many of you personally or thru correspondence.

In some ways I out grew my britches over there and that was a catalyst for me to join Hornsports and do my own thing. As I stated earlier in the thread, the members that are migrating over here, were the members that built the foundation that made OB's successful. I can't help but get excited thinking of the possibilities we all have before us building the foundation of this community. Most of us have already been there and done that so, we all are pretty much on the same page on how we want our new community to be like.

I'm taking note of all the shortcomings TOS have experienced and we are going to do our best not to replicate them here.

I've only been on OB for a few months, but I have to say I almost feel like I'm walking on eggshells anytime I want to actually voice an opinion. It's sad when people don't post for fear of being verbally assaulted by internet tough guys. I'm glad I am paying monthly basis over there. Then again, I hear it can be difficult to even cancel.
