Sumlin is given a raise that puts him at more than $4 million a year and place him among the top 10 coaches nationally in salary. This after a year that seen the aggies lose more than they lost last year. So what am I missing here you reward a coach with that kind of money when the team shows sings of regression. Do y'all feel this is the typical aggie logic? I know that I really should not give a squat just found it interesting. This is not the way it done in the real business world. My friends y'all have a great weekend.

Just speculation here but Sumlin out Aggie back in the national spotlight by way of Johnny Manziel. I'd say it is part Aggie logic when you go 4-4 in conference play (tied with Vanderbilt) and decide to give your coach a raise. However, I will say that this is a year that will see a number of coaches getting contract extensions due to the number of high profile programs that could be looking for a new HC and Aggie may be trying to protect the investment they've made. Even recruits are fooled right now. A&M is pulling some big recruits even though they finished 4th in their division.

Lipstick on a pig!

Yes, typical aggy logic. Perform worse but by all means, pay the coach who led the regression more. Lol.

By the way, has Sumlin actually signed the extension? I know it was agreed too but has he actually signed it yet? USC and the NFL could still come beating on his door even if he isn't that good of a coach.

Sumlin has plenty of upside potential. He's been killing it in recruiting, now all he has to do is make it happen on the field.

I know that a&m is doing well in recruiting but some of that is due to the uncertain on the new coach at Texas. I guess that who ever the new coach is when he goes on a recruiting trip he needs to fly in a new Burnt Orange helicopter and circle the stadium a few times. My friends y'all have a great week

Need to stop his recruiting momentum as soon as possible. Hopeful we can flip a couple of 14 kids and get back on the top 2015 kids. They don't need to have 3 good classes in a row

According to Coachingsearch.com

USC: ABC's Sean McDonough noted the Kevin Sumlin agreed to stay at Texas A&M, but interestingly added, "What I'm told by people close to the USC program is that they soured on him as a candidate anyway based on the kind of defense his team has played over the years."

It is lipstick on a pig but its perception of the kids in Texas. Where else are they suppose to go right now? Sumlin might not be the greatest coach but with the talent he keeps getting he will at be half decent. We need a big time coach in so he can flip kids like Nick Harvey, etc. Aggie has a few 2014 and a lot of 2015 guys that will flip if the right man is at Texas.

Until the wheels fell off, I was worried Sumlin would jump and aggy would upgrade at the HC position. They could do a lot better.

Now, they're stuck with him. Could be another Franny/Sherman type hire when it's all said and done.

Mack Brown went 18-8 his 1st 2 years with a Heisman winner.

Basically, Sumlin has started the same as Brown. He is recruiting lights out and has 6/7 national 100 kids with the top QB in the nation committed. He has them going in a direction they haven't been in since the Sherrill/Slocum days.

Aggy also has the SEC appeal in its back pocket right now. Their perception is a program that is on the rise with a coach that is one of the hottest around.

Great move by Aggy to lock him up.
