Of y'all are proud of our Texas Longhorns they got kicked and got right back up. They were not afraid of ou like some of our teams were in the past.  I am proud of our kids CS has cut some kids a lose that should have already been gone. But CS is going to build around what he has to work with. I know some of you are going to hammer me because we lost. How would this team responded a few years ago when they got a beat down from ou. It's also good to see a coach get on the player butt when he messed up. MB would have hugged him and tell him it's ok. Y'all got it right not going to give up on CS are The University Of Texas Longhorns. My friends y'all have a great day

I liked the way CFS pulled Adrian Colbert back to finish the conversation.

Needless to say, Mack would've let him walk away.  AC made two lousy plays on special teams that really hurt us.  Good to see CFS get in his face and hold him accountable.

It was a team effort loss; including the coaching staff. Offense, defense, special teams all found ways to screw up a good game and cost us a win over OU. Coaches did their part with NO ADJUSTMENTS at halftime and poor management of the team and preparation when we needed a two point conversion. The team fought hard, and gave a great effort against a better OU team, but in the end you have to say they snatched defeat from the jaws of victory with poor kick off and poor coverage. A bone-head INT right into the arms of an OU DB.Stupid punt coverage error resulting in a FG for OU. Leaving points on the field having to settle for 3s instead of TDs. Giving up big plays on defense after the half as usual.........Proud of the over all effort, but..... 2-4 at the end of the day. Charlie needed to keep Robinson as DC, and needs a new special teams coach.

Nerves and a couple of preventable mistakes early were too much to recover from. Also, give credit for the halftime adjustments by OU.

I can agree with some of this for sure.  But Charlie should have kept Robinson..AYSM man?  Look at the stats for this defense from the game.

3rd down conversions for OK:  1-11;  Total yards for OK: 232

Total rushing yards for OK:  103

Total first downs for OK: 11

I understand your frustration but that last line is way off.   This D is a solid unit.....now Special Teams  :o

103 and 232....How many of those yards were in the second half ?? Keep in mind OU's offense wasn't on the field very much in the first half due to pick 6 and K.O. return for TD. I agree we held them in the first half when they did have the ball, but last time I looked its a 60 minute game not 30. Bedford has no answer in the second half, and that is true for BYU, UCLA, Baylor, and OU. facts don't lie.

As JimsTexas would put it " I know some of you are going to hammer me because you hate Mack Brown". But personally I don't see the need to keep up the hatred toward Mack and the need to hammer him every chance you get. First of all, Mack would not have hugged Adrian Colbert when he came off the field after the stupid hit on the OU punt returner. But he wouldn't have grabbed him by the face mask and chewed him out in front of a national tv audience either.

What would happen with Mack is that Colbert would be in what we called Mack's dog house, and he likely would not play again for a long long time. You can discipline a player in more than one way...and one of those ways is to simply walk up to the player and tell him to take a seat on the bench. It works when others see that he doesn't come off the bench again.

This was the way I ran my business. When a secretary effed up, I didn't walk out to her desk and yell at her in front of another 25 employees. I called her into my office, closed the door and told her what she did wrong. If she repeated  the mistake repeatedly, her next task would be cleaning out her desk. I found that to be a VERY effective way to maintain control over my employees and allowed me to run a very efficient and successful operation.

I'm not saying Mack was perfect. But he didn't let the players get by with shit that needed to be corrected. He simply used another method and there's no need to continue harping on the way Mack did things. Let it go...forget about it...and lets all get behind Charlie Strong. There's likely more than one Texas fan other than me that doesn't enjoy hearing the constant beat down on Mack. Why not let that go and lets all be one big happy family.

well said Pringle. not neccesarily directed at OP or anybody but the notion that mack ran a day care with 'sally's cookies' is so tired.

yes, he stayed too long and yes he got stale. but his first 12 years he was 128-27. would anybody sign up for THAT, including a Natty, for the next 12 years? i'll be first in line.

Hail mack. Hail charlie. the king is dead. long live the king.

You're right street. I disagree with Jim sometimes,  but  certainly not trying to take a shot at him since I consider him a personal friend and one of the truly good guys amongst the Horn fans.

obviously i can't speak for jim and i doubt he was taking a shot at mack either. not normally his style.

and yes, if there's a 'good guy' on any UT board better than JimsTexas i don't know him. yeah, slim...don't even start your shit.

Hey guys I don't take anything y'all say personally. I appreciate the input from pringlelake and streettopeschel and even slim who I have set down and had lunch togther. Guys there are some really good people on HS and I am just glad to be apart of it. My friends y'all have a great day

Loved what the team did. Loved CS grabbing Colbert and not letting him walk away... Showed some great things... That said, I don't like Watson. At all. I don't know what he's doing with the O but it isn't even close to par with the D on discipline. He's a horrible time manager and manages the O very poorly. Why not just give all our timeouts away as soon as the game starts?

Truthfully...I liked Charlie grabbing Colbert myself. Every Horn fan in the world was totally pissed at Colbert and nothing is more satisfying than some instant gratification in seeing him get his ass chewed out.

My point in my post about Mack was simply to say that there's more than one way to skin a cat....and just cause Mack Brown would NOT have chewed out Colbert on national TV does not make Mack wrong. He did it his way and now lets let Charlie do it his way and stop making the comparisons to Mack. He's gone.

While the coaches and players have to take responsibility for the loss to our biggest rival, the lack of talent on this team is directly related to Mack Brown.  Mack Brown wanted to retire in 2009, but he either changed his mind or Sally changed it for him. Mack Brown hasn't look healthy for the last four years coaching, so he just didn't work as hard and the program deteriorated.  So, I haven't let that go and I haven't forgotten about it.

I also haven't forgotten how Mack Brown had a certain goals placed on him after the BYU game and he didn't meet them when we lost to Baylor. Instead of going to back to Austin to meet with Powers and Patterson, he went to Florida to recruit a player he had no interest in. He made sure the meeting was Friday afternoon when the recruits were coming in for the banquet, so they couldn't fire him. Finally, he offer the recruits in Austin his help to look at other schools.

A better word for hatred is anger. So forgive me if I don't meet your timeline. On a personal level, I wish Mack Brown and his family nothing but happiness and good health just like I do most people in the world. This is strictly football or business as they say in the mafia. I believe he put his interest above the school's interest.

But he didn't let the players get by with shit that needed to be corrected.

I agree with you on how you would talk to your secretary in private when your angry at her. That is the correct way to handle that in the business world. A football game is different, football is like a battle in war. I don't know where Colbert's mind was, but Coach Strong needed to correct Colbert's mind set right away. As far as embarrassing Colbert on national TV by yelling at him, Colbert was embarrassing himself by not mentally being in the game.

As far as letting players getting by with shit that needed to corrected. If you have the program on auto pilot then a lot of shit goes unnoticed by not being aware of what's going on.

Let it go...forget about it...and lets all get behind Charlie Strong.

That is good advice, so in the future if I or someone else writes something about Mack Brown and it upsets you, then let it go...forget about it...and lets all get behind Charlie Strong.

Your observation about the chance that Sally changed Mack's mind for him is about as far as I needed to read to understand you don't have a clue. One of those guys that gets his info from Jesus Schuttlesworth and actually thinks that crappola is the gospel.  If you want to continue bashing Mack Brown...go ahead...fine with me. You're perfect for the part.
