WEEK 2 Hornsports Pick'em

After a painful loss to Ohio State where Texas could have won the game had better decisions been made at the goal line – twice, we pick ourselves up and move forward. Last week carried several surprises. I don't think anyone saw Florida State runninig it up on Alabama like they did.

Every year is different, though the pre-season hype can fool us all.

Not a great week for competitive games. I just selected the games I thought would be most competitive.

A couple of us have predicted no scorinig from SJSU. I'm one of them. My thought is if we're good enough defensively to limit OSU to 14 at their house, we should be able to pull off the shutout in Austin with a vastly inferior team.

However, I'm thinking Sark and staff use the next three games to play some younger players that he wasn't able to do last week. I think he wants to know who he can count on.

The depth on defense is so good though that I still think we blank them.

Iowa @ #16 Iowa State - this will be a close game with the first team to 21 wins. I'm going with the Cyclones on this one.

#11 Illinois @ Duke - 2 teams coming off of beating up on creampuffs. Hard to tell who is the better team. I'll go with the Illini over the Blue Devils.

Baylor @ #17 SMU - another close game I'm going with the Mustangs.

#20 Ole Miss @ Kentucky - this will be a good game to see just how good Kentucky is. Rebels run away with this one.

Kansas @ Missouri - Rock Chalk (or whatever). The Jayhawks put a beat down on the Tigers.

#15 Michigan @ #18 Oklahoma - ouSux

UCLA @ UNLV - oh no the Bruins suck again. But surely, they can beat a lowly Mountain West team? Not so fast my friend.

South Florida @ #13 Florida - Gators run away with this one.

Fresno State @ Oregon State - the only thing either of these teams has going for them is Maalik Murphy. I'm going with the Beavers.

Virginia @ NC State - taking the Wolfpack in this closely contested game.
