I am no chicken little but I absolutely, 100%, believe we need to play them again. F it. I don't care about the past. "Eternal scoreboard" with 27-25 is a joke and will continue to lose it's luster as time goes by.

I used to not want to play them again because it would be a win-win for them, they got to keep everything they wanted. Now, we (Coach Strong, the players, coaches, fans, etc.) should want to play them so bad right now.

Charlie Strong should drop a line to Steve and say "Do it."

To me, it would be very prideful for us to ignore this by continuing to not play them. These recruiting wars need to be settled before they begin, on the college football field. What better time to say/market that we are ready to schedule them than when we have a new regime and lots of question marks and while they are "on top" in Texas?!

Now, what can we do? Email? Twitter?

What are the hashtag options? #strongvsumlinonthefieldmakeithappenpleasethankshookemaggysucks

I agree, I was honestly indifferent before as to whether we should ever play them again. However, If it was a win-win for them before, then it doesn't matter now as they are winning the recruiting war anyway.

Wouldn't bother me if they were scheduled again.

No it would be ugly for the next 3 years
You really believe that our defense wouldn't stop their offense? Or even better, do you believe their D could stop our offense?? We're talking first game in 2-3 years if to hey agreed to play now.

I do not. Have you seen the defensive class from last year and then add the class from this year?? Would not touch for the next 3-5 years

The only school that benefits playing that game is aTm. We will control recruiting by winning. We don't need to beat them to do that.

Only three things can happen by playing aTm and two of them are bad.

Absolutely incorrect. There is zero question as to which school has the upper hand in Texas right now.

I am by no way a chicken little fan and I understand (at least I hope I do) the decommits.

We won that game, but they have benefitted far more by being in the SEC than we have in the Big 12 (strange name for a conf w/ 10 teams).

I loved playing and beating the ags. This notion that they are the only ones benefitting from that game is ludicrous at best. We have to prove we are superior in every aspect...sorta defeats the SEC hype doesn't it?

Otherwise we are kidding ourselves and we will continue to look like the brat that took his ball and went home.

We need to give our coaches a full year to establish themselves and build relationships with the THS coaches and players. The $EC is going to stand out no matter what, but the Aggies aren't going to win their conference, so we don't need to play them to prove anything. Let's have this convo this time next year and see if you feel the same way then.

Don't know if you're replying to me or not, but yeah in today's culture we do need to prove we are better. A lot of kids in Texas are not native Texans and have no ties to either program and they are brainwashed by ESPN. This is not 1980 anymore.

Do not agree... eternal scoreboard is good for me and Aggie doesn't deserve to play the University of Texas in football. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS LOOK AT THE RECORD!!! They never were a "rival" they couldn't live up to their end of the bargain. F! Em! And feed em fish heads!!

I see a lot of debate about who it helps most, who will win etc.

It's Aggy, of course we'll win. Details are not important. Over time we'll beat them far more than they beat us because we have and always have had a deeply ingrained psychological edge on them. From their fight song, to their attitude they know success is only about beating Texas and they also know that on the field of battle they mostly lose. An understanding that always leads to more losing.

We definitely need to get this battle back on the field where we have the edge.

I'm going to vote no on playing them again.

I cannot get out of my head all the crap that was flung our way when they were trying to get into the SEC.

And while I hear a bunch of people saying "we must" play these folks again, nobody seems to explain why. What benefit do we get from playing them? They get more Texas exposure which would be spotlighted nationally. We get that anyway. They have to play SHSU and are ridiculed for it.

I just don't get what benefit Texas receives by playing Aggy. If we win, so what? We usually do beat Aggy. If we lose, then it's blown up in our faces. Why do we do this?

Totally disagree with the "UT needs" to play Texas A&M. The single greatest recruiting tool that the Aggies have is that they belong to the SEC. The results of that game will not change the conference they are in or play a significant role in recruiting. When UT begins to win consistently again and supplants itself as a Top 10 team, the recruiting landscape will level out. In fact, if UT is consistently a Top 10 team and A&M isn't, recruiting will lean in UT's direction and it won't matter what conference A&M is in. At that point, A&M will turn into Ole Miss or Miss State. No game needed.

Lot of panic on this board tonite.
Looks like that chicken little comment was for you buddy! Would you have felt better if I waited a day or two to post? This is not a panic post...it wasn't started by MBHORNSFAN :P

Because if their only losses are to SEC teams that tremendously helps their aggy logic in recruiting. Kids in Texas know the score of the UT/aggy games. It will be beneficial to beat them and just as hurtful for them to lose to a lowly big12 conference.

Ironic post is ironic.

I think it's silly that so many people do not want to play aggy, yet there are like 7 topics about aggy...That makes no sense..either we should be done w them period or we should play the game. The idea that they are the only team w something to gain is laughable..it's a rivalry game which puts two good football programs vs each other each year. I am not going to just wish and hope aggy goes away..I don't see it happening like that. They have a good coach who sells "swag", I know...I know, but all the same these young men enjoy that sell. I embrace their success as a challenge for us. No they aren't The University of Texas, but they aren't the aggy of old..I would love to play them each year again. Funny thing is that the players on the roster probably hate the aggy team far less than the fans...so if they don't play the anger will continue to grow between the two fan bases. I would rather talk crap to aggy (and have them talk crap to me) about actual football games.
