We lose these next two and Mack must go

Fellas, I am digging in but I strongly feel like if we lose to A&M AND to Baylor then Mack needs to be reassigned to the front office. I respect everything he has done for the University but there is something seriously wrong in Austin with the offense, particularly the quarterback position. No, it is much more than juts a few young guys.

We had Garrett Gilbert who transferred because he felt the wrath of the fans. We had Connor Wood who transferred because he felt like he wouldn't play (boy was he wrong). We had David Ash who folks thought was a contender and he turns out to be a pretender with 6 picks in his first 5 games. McCoy showed guts but he is still mediocre at best.

Enter Connor Brewer and Jalen Overstreet next year to immediately compete for the job. Overstreet is a dual threat guy and may be just what we need.

Regardless, Mack needs to go if we tank. No excuses for Texas to have these types of woes. It is inexplicable and inexcusable.

They need a way to gracefully get Mack to exit and hire a high profile coach, maybe a pro coach? This team would be hard to beat with a QB and as of now these two kids aren't good enough to play for a intramural team.

I get conflicting reports on Brewer..his line from his latest playoff game is 11 of 23 for 188 yards and 1 td..9 rushes for zero yards..but..for the season: Totals: 166/265 for 2,844 yards, 41 TDs, 5 INTs & 52 carries, 368 yards.

Jalen Overstreet has wildcat written all over him..In a recent game he threw for 120 yards and ran for 150..These two might be the real deal and for Mack's sake they had better be. He might survive this season but not next if this happens again.

Plus Johnathan Gray has AP abilities..He is freakish fast and powerful and in an Emmitt Smith size body..

Brewer was offered scholarships from all the big boys - Bama, Florida, Michigan, Nebraska, Tennessee, etc... so we know he has the goods. Will this convert to success in the collegiate level? Who knows. He has a 4.0 GPA so he has a few beans between the ears too! The scouts say Connor is very Colt McCoy-esque, which can be taken with a grain of salt. Case was supposed to be like his bro too.

To comment on the original post from texas73, Mack is safe this year and probably next but that is where his leash ends. He has done a lot of good for th University but as we know college football takes a "what have you done for me lately" paradigm on things.

Unless we can get Nick Saban I am content with Mack leading the team. Be careful what you wish for. You can get burned by making an irrational coaching change.

mack is not going anywhere. We are loaded in young talent and the powers that be knew this was a 2-3 year rebuilding process. he deserves at least that to get the ship back on course.

Exactly. I think Mack is doing everything possible to get this thing turned around. It can't and won't happen overnight. No doubt that Gilbert flaming out has set us back but we'll be back pretty soon.

We lose to AGGY tomorrow and that tune changes. We lose to Baylor and that changes substantially. I am a Mack fan but we need results! Our offense is in the world of the unknown!!!!!
