Walk Ons at Texas

Many of these coaches' sons/grandsons are building their resumes for when they join the family business, coaching. I hold no ill will towards these young men. This is simply how things work. Do they have to be done at Texas? No. I do not see this changing as long as they are willing to accept the new culture of the program.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe "preferred" walkons are allowed entrance under the same relaxed requirements as scholarship players.

If that is in fact accurate, you could gain great favor with a booster or HS coach by allowing an otherwise non-qualifying student in school.

i do think the walk on program can be used more effectively. . .having said that. ..the rise of D1 programs like UTSA and Texas State continues to shrink the available market. .. I do enjoy the fact that so many coaches who can afford it, sent their sons to play for Mack . .to learn how to run an organization..

And the FCS level programs in Texas don't suck either. . .

Yea I know. . .I'm a "Mack apologist. . insert insult here" but it is reality. . .. .

BTW, in addition to Boyer, Hardy McCrary's kid is our holder. ..one of those jobs where you have to be perfect . .but being perfect means "so what you did your job" and one mistake has 100,000 fans booing you.. .we generally award 2-3 walk on players ship every year. . .

And You do need bodies to run practice. . .

PS, didn't realize that CS coached at ND under Holtz. . I think the young Holtz is pretty safe. .
