Recap of Week 12:

Horns get bowl eligible

Texas extended their winning streak to three games with a convincing 28-7 win in Stillwater over Oklahoma State. The Horns used a big first half on offense and four quarters of smothering defense to notch their second road win in the last three games.

TCU struggles to beat Kansas

Not many doubted that the Horned Frogs would eventually beat the Jayhawks, no matter what the scoreboard indicated during the game. Nevertheless, in a game where TCU needed style points for the playoff poll, the final score (34-30) wasn’t the flashy result that most anticipated.

OU uses strong second half to comeback in Lubbock

No Trevor Knight and no Sterling Shepard almost equaled no win for the Sooners. OU's backup QB, Cody Thomas, threw three interceptions in the first half, but Texas Tech failed to convert any into scores. OU scored on all five of their drives in the second half.

Big 12 Power Poll:

1. TCU
2. Baylor
3. Kansas State
4. Oklahoma
5. Texas
6. West Virginia
7. Oklahoma State
8. Texas Tech
9. Kansas
10. Iowa State

The reality is that the Big 12 has parity in three different sub-groupings:
- TCU, Baylor and K-State appear to be the class of the conference but it’s difficult to clearly put those three in order from strongest to weakest.
- OU, Texas and West Virginia have all been pretty comparable. They’re good enough to beat the bottom tier; go .500 against the middle tier; and struggle against the top tier.
- Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Kansas & Iowa State are all forgettable. It’s tough to say which team is the “least worst”.

Big 12 Game of the Week:

Kansas State at West Virginia (Thursday at 6pm CST, FS1)
Does KSU belong in the top tier or the second tier in the Big 12? The Wildcats have an opportunity to stake a claim in the conference race on Thursday night in Morgantown. Baylor, who plays KSU in Week 15, desperately needs K-State to win this week.

Other Big 12 Games:
Kansas at Oklahoma (11am CST, FS1) – KU played well in back-to-back weeks, can they challenge OU?

Texas Tech at Iowa State (2:30 CST, FSN) – Even fans of these 2 schools don’t care about this game.

Oklahoma State at Baylor (6:30 CST, FOX) – Boatrace on the Brazos.

West Virginia had a bye week after the loss to Texas.  HUGE game for the Mountaineers against K-State at home.  Clint Trickett's final home game, WVU looking to win its 7th game on the season.....

Alternatively, it's a game KSU must win to stay in the Big 12 title mix.

I'll be watching this one.

Wouldn't ya know it; the weekend I'm headed to Vegas and the College Football slate is weak sauce.  Damn.
