We had to make a call to the bullpen & I'm subbing for Flanagan this week....
Recap of Week 10:
TCU escapes Morgantown
For the third year in a row, the Big 12’s newest members had their game decided in the closing minutes. In each of the last two years, the teams needed overtime to reach a conclusion. On Saturday, TCU kicked a game-winning field goal as time expired for a 31-30 win. WVU turned the ball over 5 times and both quarterbacks struggled in windy conditions.
Flexing their muscles
OU 59 – ISU 14
Baylor 60 – Kansas 14
Kansas State 48 – Oklahoma State 14
This is what happens when the top of the league plays the bottom of the league. All three winners were comfortably leading at halftime – none of the games were ever in doubt, even though all three were played at the underdogs’ home field.
Mahomes seeing tortillas
Quandre Diggs put a hurtin’ on Texas Tech quarterback Patrick Mahomes, knocking him out of the game. The Red Raiders tried to rally behind Vincent Testaverde, but the Horns didn’t let them channel Jerry Neuheisel.
Big 12 Power Poll (Week 11):
1. Kansas State
2. TCU
3. Baylor
4. Oklahoma
5. West Virginia
6. Texas
7. Oklahoma State
8. Texas Tech
9. Iowa State
10. Kansas
Big 12 Game of the week:
Kansas State at TCU (6:30 CST, FOX) – Before the season, nobody had this game pegged as the premier game of the Big 12 – especially not on the day that Baylor plays OU. But here we are in Week 11 and the Wildcats and Horned Frogs are playing an elimination game for the College Football Playoff.
Other Big 12 games
Baylor at Oklahoma (11:00am CST, FS1) – This is an important sideshow.
Iowa State at Kansas (2:30 CST, FSN) – Two mules fighting over a turnip.
West Virginia at Texas (2:30 CST, FS1) – Storylines abound if you’re a fan of either team – outsiders are yawning at irrelevance.
