It's an old trope but it's true. Lots of very smart Conservatives. Lots of very smart Liberals. All good Americans. The problem is all this animosity and disdain, like someone is un-American if they love Obama or voted for Trump. I see it a lot on this board because most of you are conservative. But we Liberals do it, too, of course. Let's all spend some time these Holidays looking for the good on the other side. Better yet, not "the other side," just friends with opinions.

Complete outsiders point of view. Being an Australian i pay little attention to USA politics except what is reported on news services here.

What amazed me was how little your presidential race actually focused on someones ability to do the job or actual policies.

All the media repprted on was how many criminal activities hillary was involved in or how many girls trump alegadaly said sexist things too.

Which is pretty much what this thread has been doing.

I hope to god my country keeps focusing on our politicians ability to do the job and their policies and not just trying to slander them out of the race

noonan05, you just explained why most Americans don't trust our news media. I believe most people here in the U.S. see it and most ignore them.They have probably fallen behind used car salesmen and lawyers (no offense to either group meant) in trust worthy professions.

My belief is that even if I didn't vote for whoever is the President, I would still want them to succeed since it should benefit America.

As far as racism, like Sir stated, it has always existed and more than likely always will. However some view it as a single lane road (ie 1 way) where in reality it's a multi-lane highway.

Oh, one last thing I hate politics and I trust no politicians, not a one.

Tillerson is an impressive guy, very bright.  Have a look at some of the things he has written and you will see.

This thread is an example of why I had to drop Mike on twitter.  With recruiting, he can be funny.  But once the election warmed up, he went off the meds, and then off the rails. Hard.  Anyone who disagrees with him is immediately a Nazi.   So tiresome.

It's simple, Mike. I don't take up an argument unless I know I will win with facts on my side. If we're arguing over something, you better do your homework.
