Uh oh

Mack might not realize that by fighting Saban he is actually hurting his reputation. If a coach with a lessor reputation comes in and turns it around, then by comparison Mack will look even worse than if who is widely regarded to be the best coach in the land turns it around. Just not a smart move, Mack.

What the heck!!!!....Mack is out and Saban is in because I have been dreaming this for weeks. That's the reason I have been sleeping so good!!!!

HOOK'EM Horns and Lets win some Big 12 Titles and MNC's. OK:)

Excellent point.

Y'all are all being trolled.
Hopefully y'all honestly dont think Saban is 100%. I think there is a chance. A slim one, but a chance.

Mack is going to dig in and make it hard.

Mack won't meet with powers and Patterson now until tomorrow. And the longer Mack seems to drag it out I think he knows it hurts texas chances with Saban
I take it you don't believe Ketch on OB either who said Saban was already vetting coaches to come with him. why is a coach who is staying vetting coaches?

I dont understand what his issue is… he's been riding the gravy train at texas for too long. I know I know, hes done a lot for UT, but texas has done more than enough to reward him. He needs to step down calmy so he CAN be remebered as a Longhorn legend.

He can vet coaches. Then if he doesn't feel right he can sign at Bama and act like nothing ever happened.

Texas needs and wants him more than he needs texas. And texas has all to lose going all in on him if they don't pull it off

Some truth to this, however, UT could go the route of a small but rapid search committee if Saban doesn't come. Names like Tomlin and John Harbaugh are very real. Saban isn't the only coach that can be successful here.

I do think he is savvy Enough to realize this will all be over soon enough and whether he is named the coach on Tues or Thursday doesn't make much difference.

Sounds like IT is reporting that most likely there will no announcement tomorrow from Mack. Could come Saturday.. How much longer can this drag out? If this gets into next week my worry meter will hit HOT..
The Saturday thing makes sense. Friday night IS about the kids and an announcement by Mack would turn the whole thing into a tribute to Mack. So this does not surprise me.

I feel that things are still on track. The BMD's that passed the hat to get this done aren't going to be left holding the bag. I just don't see a reason for all of the hand wringing over an extra couple of days.

On skipping Jasper (for the most part)

I was hoping that would happen. He may have been called back to Austin. He's in at 8. I hope Patterson and Powers are waiting on the tarmac for him. Had he gone to Jasper, I'd have worried.

FYI....Bowl practices start Saturday...also commits and recruits in town...another excuse to delay. Time for Action, Now.

I think this little nugget is a pretty big indicator that all is well. Mack had plans per the flight/recruiting schedule. Plans were abruptly changed, and he is being brought back to Austin. Whether the meeting with Mack, Patterson and Powers is tonight or in the morning isn't a game changer. The orders are in, Mack is being brought back to Austin, and what must be done will be done, whether Mack goes along willingly or not. Mack really needed to be out of town until the meeting with the BOR was done. No reason for people around Bellmont or otherwise to have access to him until he has something to say, i.e., what he will be told he must say. Once the meeting was done he was called to come back and stop visiting recruits.

My guess is he announces tomorrow before the banquet. I know it's supposed to be about the men on the team, but there's no better time. The family's together. Break the news and get them behind you for the last game.

How do we know he did not go to jasper. If he didn't them we need to get on the horn to Cuney and see what happened.

he was in jasper for exactly 13 minutes

I agree with Hybrid. If all that I've read is true (and since this is only my second post it's obvious I've done a lot of lurking and little typing...lol) from this being Nick's dream job that he apparently shared back when he coached at LSU, to the lucrative contract that he has seen and approved according to reliable sources, to the substantial debt he incurred while following the lead of some Bama BMDs being practically retired through oil investments that have been set-up for him, to moving to Austin where he has family not to mention just getting out of Tuscaloosa and last but not least, the chance to do what has never been done before, win 3 national championships at 3 different universities, I can't imagine him throwing all of that away because he has to wait a couple of more days to officially take the job. It could possibly be a plus, as has been mentioned before, he will not have to address "since the UT job is now open are you their next coach" type of questions during the Heisman ceremony.

We may not get Saban as our coach, but I don't believe it will be because of Mack delaying his retirement announcement a couple of days. I'm sure he is being kept abreast of the situation and if he wants the job as badly as we want him, all good things comes to those that wait. Well, my 2 cents worth anyway...and I'm sure it's not worth much more than that.

Maybe he jumped out and went to spend the night with Cuney. Why the hell would they be on the ground for 13 minutes? Someone call Cuney.

Haven't they missed on a couple of big announcement here lately? I wouldn't worry to much. McPhaul...what are you hearing?
