Top 10 Western Gunfights

When making a top 10 you can't leave out that one in Open Range. There are so many in Tombstone (with Kurt Russell and Val Kilmer).

Always loved this one though in a Fistful of Dollars!

open range is terrific. also like the climactic bar scene in John Wayne's farewell, 'The Shootist'
I love Open Range. I always tune in for the final gunfight whenever it's on. My wife hates it, mainly because I watched it while we were on our one year anniversary vacation in a cabin in Pigeon Forge.

You just can't miss the final gunfight.

You just can't...

The best gun fight ever isn't even an actual gun fight... at least, "That's the rumor."

I can't take your opinions on Westerns seriously until you sit down and watch Silverado.

When Eastwood (William Munny) enters the saloon to exact revenge from Gene Hackman (Little Bill) in The Unforgiven.

The build up to this scene and the sheer savagery of it when it arrives makes the point of the movie: there aint no good guys and bad guys. They are all bad guys and some are just better (or luckier) when it comes to killing. Zero morals to take away from the story. It was social darwinism pure and simple. Just an over the hill gunslinger doing the only thing he was ever good at, killing.

That ship has long sailed. . .

BTW,

The link lists the Open Range gunfight as the longest in Western cinema history .. . not sure if it's true but an underrated movie. ..

There were several in Tombstone worthy though they only included the gunfight at the OK Corral but the showdown with Johnny Ringo was classic. . .

the gunfight in High Noon made their list. . .

Silverado is one of my all time favorites. Can't beat Costner with hair, and loved Costner and Duval in Open Range. All star cast in silverado. Bought Lonesome Dove for $5, enjoying that this evening. Now I'll stop my post which is getting off the gunfight topic and turning in to a western Siskel and Ebert episode.
