Tom Herman's Weekly Press Conference Updates

"When both quarterbacks are cleared to play, we are able to play Jerrod at WR and have him run more wildcat stuff"

On Shane Buechele-"He knows he can do more. He knows that he can play better. This is a guy that has some experience and is a guy that has played well in meaningful games"

"I obviously did not expect the struggles offensively. I did know that this is a banner year in terms of depth in the Big 12."-Herman on if he expected the season to play out the way it has

On Tim Beck and play calling-"Naashon Hughes has seen 33 different assistant coaches come through here. Continuity and consistency with your staff is one of the most important things in college football.
There are very, very few fans and posters on Texas websites who get this.

And, in case you didn't know it, Tom Herman gets this.

When asked about Jerrod Heard and the possibility of him getting more snaps at QB, Herman points out that a lot of his usage is dependent on how healthy Sam Ehlinger. He does not want to risk losing his only backup QB if Ehlinger is not available.
This only makes sense to me IF he's concerned about Heard's contribution to the team as a WR. And I can't imagine he would be considering WR is the deepest group on the team. He could easily start Heard and have Shane as backup. With Sam hurt and Shane not being able to perform consistently due to the OL, why wouldn't Tom at least give it a shot? It's not like Heard hasn't won games as QB...and imo he'd at least be as efficient as Sam...
