How about you leave out the misinformation and rumors and just give me the info.I'm referring to all the misinformation, rumors, info in regard to coaches etc etc...
Well Lotushorn says that Peterson has said through back channels that he would love to replace Strong. So, we will see.Sure. I've been told that Peterson won't consider leaving the Pac NW. I was told back channels are at a fast pace right now. Herman's agent has been spoken with on a regular basis by people who are known as "set up" people. They do the talking so it never comes back to us. The objective is to have the table set when the time comes.
I'm not sure Lotushorn has ever been right on any info he shares.Well Lotushorn says that Peterson has said through back channels that he would love to replace Strong. So, we will see.

I'm not going to be surprised if he winds up being a very good head coach. Especially after learning under SabanSo I'm mostly on board with Herman as a candidate, but I wanted to get other peoples' opinions about someone else. I'm probably in the minority for thinking this guy is a good idea, but...what do ya'll feel about Lane Kiffin? Would he be a realistic candidate?
Just thought it would be interesting to bring up.
That's fair. However I will say, the fact that he's currently under Saban's tutelage makes him appealing, IMO.I'm not going to be surprised if he winds up being a very good head coach. Especially after learning under Saban
However he is far too unpredictable for me. Don't want him.
I think you are correct that he will likely make a very good head coach somewhere, someday. I think it is a little too.... risky and he is a little too..... unpredictable for Texas. So I'm mostly on board with Herman as a candidate, but I wanted to get other peoples' opinions about someone else. Two thoughts here:I like Dabo Swinney
He's definitely one that we should talk to along with UNC's Larry Fedora.
What about Bryan Harsin?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bryan_HarsinTwo thoughts here:
1) I liked Bryan Harrsin when he was here (albeit just one year).... I liked his offense and his no-nonsense approach.
2) I'm lazy.... what is his record like as a head coach? Do his teams play on both sides of the ball?
Love the enthusiasm, but as a misplaced Texan living in Indy, this is an area of expertise when it comes to knowledge about Urban. I interned for a particular media personality who coached at Bowling Green when Urban was there, I can wholeheartedly tell you Urban Meyer is never leaving Ohio State unless it's for retirement or a fantastic situation in the NFL. So, basically, he's never leaving Ohio State until he retires. Period. I'm not even speculating about this. The media personality I'm referencing shouldn't be hard to guess. I'd just rather not name drop. I'm merely trying to tell you, this guy texts Urban on a regular basis. Urban ain't going nowhere.People laugh about Bill O'Brien because the NFL is so great, right? I googled his salary. It is 3.5 million per year. He did a good job at Penn State the short time he was there, and that was with one hand tied behind his back. Of course even if he was interested, he probably wouldn't be available until late, unless they lost early in the playoffs, and that wouldn't work.
My preference is still Meyer, and I don't care if we blow the top off of salaries. Heck, we pretty much did that when we went after Saban before. Bama did end up paying him 7.5. If we can get Meyer, pay what it takes. The man can do it all. What good does it do to have all that money if it just sits in the bank? Besides that, Meyer would make us more than he costs us. Pay the man.
We won't know if he will come unless we ask, and I think he would fit here. Give him what he needs for a defensive coordinator and a disciplinarian. Let him have input on the hiring of the new AD, as long as that AD fits the other criteria. He is a can't miss, and he is the right age. If he wants to stay in Ohio, fine. Herman shouldn't be offended that we wanted his old boss, first.
If Meyer would come, our 2017 class would take an immediate bounce, and we could probably have the coordinators of our choice.
Dammit, I want college football to be fun again, and I am not changing teams. Hook 'em!

From what I remember reading, he didn't want to deal with Mack Brown's crap.I may get hammered with this statement but why would Harsin leave the area he was born in, raised in, played HS & college ball in and where he is the next thing to a King to come to Texas? Yea, Texas can pay him more but it's not always about money.
Plus if my memory is correct, he left Austin not happy and he saw the crap Brown dealt with. Maybe he doesn't want to have to deal with all that?
