Toby Weathersby decommits

He's been on record as saying he wanted to take some more visits.  Not sure to what schools, though.

At least it wasn't on signing day. Leaves the staff time to continue recruiting to fill the spot. Any word on LSU commit Tehuma coming for a visit as rumored? Any renewed interest in Moore, or has wickline moved on from him?

It hurts anytime a player who was committed to you decides to decommit. But the reality is that if players are not 100 percent sold on your program, you're best to each move on. Charlie and WIckline run a tough program. It's not for everybody. Only the Strong survive, so to speak.

The best thing is that it's a position that I'm not worried about. Wickline is a coach that has proven he can take OL and turn them into players whether they were highly recruited or not.

I agree and I also believe UT still has 6 OL commits.

Well this blows.  I don't see how landing some relatively unknown OL JUCO, like Hodges, makes up for talented players like Toby.  We already lost out on Kirkland and probably MJ.

While I am a firm believer in CS, today has been full of disappointing news.

Our offer list isnt exactly breaking down the barriers when it comes to ESPN 300 commits.  Vahe is the only top 300 OL on the list now.

This one hurts. Weathers to was a big time talent and can't see any way that this is a positive.

If Burt also de commits... This class will be lucky to finish top 20.

I felt bad about losing out on Weathersby when I heard about this, but then I thought about Wickline. Mack Brown constantly had a higher rated OL over Oklahoma State every year, but Wickline had much better results than UT. While our OL usually struggled, the Cowboys OL was in the top 20 practically every year.

I checked some of Wickline's recruiting ratings from 2006-2009. Either he picked the right players or he coached them up, but they were successful. I figured 2009 was his last class at OK ST that he coached till their senior year.

He's apparently looking at Arkansas, LSU and Ole Miss. How weird.

I thought it would have been OU or aggy. Recruiting is a crazy animal.
