This Is What I'm Hearing

Who thinks there is any connection between this threat (which I think is being floated through back channels, but is most likely a bluff), the Forde article blaming Powers, and the "Class Act" Mack Brown billboard on 183?

PDX, I'm curious as to your reasons for not believing this report?
First if you recognize my handle from OB you will know I am not a Mack Brown fan. Good riddance.

To me it just seems way too Days of Our Lives sensationalistic to be true.

Second he voluntarily resigned on national TV. He would seem to have zero case.

Third if there was any threat of this through back channels I find it hard to believe he would be allowed to coach the bowl game.

Fourth. Outside of Leach (who was fired) has there ever been a HC who sued their school?

Mack has already alienated many fans this would take that to a new level. For someone who others have said he wants to be in a DKR emeritus role around campus this would end any chance that would ever happen.

As an FYI I am always in the never say never camp but hope this is not true. Just my $.02 on the matter.

So, this is rated with 5 stars? What am I missing? Sounds like Mack has fallen off his rocker if true. WTF is going on at our University?

I have a hard time believing it because Mack has been so concerned with his legacy. There won't be any statues of him on campus if he sues the University. He and Sally also don't have any money problems. I find it much easier to believe that people who want to tarnish Mack's rep would float these stories.

If Brown truly tries to screw UT then I suggest that they name part of DKR Memorial in his "honor", the urinals.

Thanks PDX....of course I recognize your handle. How's your Dad doing? Thanks for taking the time to respond. All I have to say is you might be underestimating the lengths Mack is willing to go to at this point.

Happy Holidays to you and your family

Sorry, couldn't read the entire OP post. This shit has gotten completely ridiculous. People are taking Mack bashing entirely too damn far. Time for some people to pull there head out of there ass and not believe every bit of bullshit fed to them.

Mcphaul is only reporting what he hears, and it could all be smoke for what we know. It could be to take our focus off of the saban story and direct all the boards back to mack brown.

Not to long ago saban to texas was a done deal reported by mcphaul and others saying 100 percent.

The only thing this message board should focus on is, how can we help make texas a better place to be.

Until they announce a head coach all the speculation is hear say and its a total waste of time, unless someone has a credible source that they can mention.

Thanks for sharing but I don't believe that at all.
I also think this sounds extreme. If true, it is probably just an attempt to block a Saban deal.

What relationship does Jamal have with other BMDs and Powers? Tough to believe he would turn his back on all of them.

Not even mack would want to do this. Would prob kill his tv career too and end him ever stepping foot in Austin again. Won't happen

Interesting. It is interesting to note that Forde only had one source for his article so it must have been a very good source in Forde's eyes...(MB/JJ?).

.

I'm another one who has problems with the idea of Mack actually dropping a lawsuit on the university. I also won't formally respond to the idea until I see a real story confirming that Mack and Jamail are suing. That being said, while Mack's come off as somewhat childish and petulant this last month or more, I've never taken him for stupid. He has expressed thoughts about his legacy at UT, and he has to know that filing a lawsuit over his departure would be a pretty futile gesture, lose him whatever respect remains for him, and come across as trying to bite the hand that's been paying him over five million dollars a year for way too long. I have known people that would bite their own nose off to spite their face, but honestly, Mack hasn't seemed like that person...yet, anyway. However, as someone above said...you never say never.

This is for McPhaul and Sirhornsalot. Give me your gut. I have gone back and forth on this and I have absolutley no knowledge or inside information. But I feel Saban is going to be the next coach of The University of Texas if there is no announcement before January 3rd. This is purely gut and hope. But there was a quote from Sabans first press conference when AU started practicing again for the Sugar Bowl. He was vague in his answer about Texas. He kept sayign things like " I am committed to THIS team, and I thought we KINDA covered all of this." He left a lot of doors open. Darrell:

Thanks for the info. I can tell you that this is not lost on our BMD's, and they are prepared for this. I am told that this should not affect anything in regard to our top candidate; Mack's press conference addressed what was needed. Any about face just reflects badly for Mack and nothing else. JP is too old to be making idle threats, and that is all this is being taken as.

A lawsuit by Brown, depending on the timing, could seriously impede our efforts to get any number of coaches. I hope this doesn't materialize.

Not throwing rocks at what you are hearing and from whom but it makes no sense to me. Mack Brown publically announced his resignation. In addition, he accepted a non-coaching position with UT and for that simple reason, filing a lawsuit makes no sense to me. It also appears contrary to his actions throughout 16 years.
