The fact that it seems to be rather silent makes me think Patterson has full control of this process.

Very very glad to hear nothing yet.

Serious question...if Powers wants a Stanford-type athletics program from what I've read, shouldn't he have some concern with a Saban program (grayshirts, medical redshirts, oversigning...)? Is a President somewhat the face of the program, or is it the AD only? It just seems he should have some vision...perhaps I'm wrong and this is totally delegated to the AD.
Powers' stock sure has dropped...we've gone from applauding him for butting heads with Perry and resisting a diploma factory to handing him a box of colors.
Don't get me wrong, I think he's done some really good work for the university academically and as a whole. That said, I think his relationship with both Mack and DD has biased his decision making abilities in regards to the future of the football program and the athletic department. Couple that with...

“Athletics is not my field,” Powers said. “We will talk together and consult and we’ll sit down and go through the process. But Steve Patterson will hire the next head coach.”
and I think it's clear that he's not the best qualified to make the decision on who the next head coach of the Texas Longhorns should be.
