I do. Anyone else? Share your stories or workout plans here. I know I cant afford $35 a session for a trainer so I pick up alot of my info from some HS strength coaches who are nice enough to share some wisdom.

I workout! Shout out to my trainers @ SF Fit Life!

We usually work on high intensity training.

Due to my bad knees, for cardio I: row 500m as fast as I can (usually around 2 minutes) x 3 and burpees.

Then lots of strength training through: 2 sets of planking for 2 minutes each, kettlebells, dumb bells, push ups, chin ups, dead lifts, Bulgarian bags, lots of squats and lunges for nice thighs and butt.

I workout twice a week (1 hour sessions), swim once a week (30 minutes), and golf (walking course with a push cart, about 5 miles per 18 holes) once a week.

My goal is to be around 20% body fat but eating right is major key.

You don't need a trainer for any of this. Use the Google machine and find workouts for kettlebells, etc. When I move to Austin, I will be on a tight budget, so no more trainer. I'm hoping to find a ground floor apt so I can do many of these workouts at home.

I work out in the yard when the temp is over 65 degree....picking up leaves, water plants with gray water, sweep the sidewalk and drive, go behind Tobias Winston (English bulldog) picking up his mess in the yard and then go inside and do the dishes. I have "7% body fat"

Ends up being 3 1/2 miles per day.... Pretty good, right.

I work out, but no trainer.
Same here. I try to work out 6 days a week. Alternating weight training (not heavy weights but many reps) with 1 hour interval workouts on stationary bike. Both my knees are blown (8 operations total) so I am somewhat limited in what I can do and have to be real careful. But I lead a pretty active lifestyle, lots of travel for work, and I hate skulking around in hotel rooms. When traveling I try to do at least some workout on a bike or rower. I watch my diet to some extent but, mainly, I keep weight down by working out.

I coached with a guy who's dad was a former body builder and personal trainer. He said they key to anything to do is to work to failure.

I workout at a Crossfit Gym and love it. It reminds me of our workouts in college. I workout 6 times a week. You can get on the Crossfit site and do the workout of the day at your own home if you build a garage gym. Personally, I like the competition and fellowship of working out with friends. At a CrossFit gym you always have a coach or two to help with form if you need that.

How much is Crossfit?

I work out at a Crossfit gym too. Iv been lifting weights since I was In the 6th grade In every different type of environment there is. I havent found anything as effective or fun as crossfit. Its anywhere from 100-150 around me (florida). Sounds like alot but I cant go back to a normal gym.

It depends on the gym and how often you go. The average is about 100 a month, but can be 60 or so if you are only going a few times a week. In Houston there are a lot in the 200 range (unlimited workouts), but more expensive doesn't mean better. With all Crossfits you usually get 2 or 3 to see if it is right for you.

Be forewarned Crossfit is addictive. I hate missing a workout. I can't say enough about the community of Crossfit. The people are what make the place great. While it is a little competitive it is even more supportive and encouraging. At the age of 43, I am doing things I never thought I would do again. A lot of that comes from seeing others around me do these things and the people and coaches helping me to break barriers. I am honestly amazed at what I am able to do now thanks to Crossfit. I feel like I am back in my twenties.

Ive got to make some modifications once I can get the right supplements in about a month, but I (at least I think) am living proof you can do anything. I started out June 3rd of last year at 395lbs, benched 145, and ran north of a 25 minute mile. Absolutely f****ng pathetic to let that happen. I started watching calories, dropped sodas, fast food, and processed foods and have progressed into a five to six day a week training regimen. Work out alone at our local gym in Taylor (HtFit).

Still a long way to go, but Im down to 307 with a 260 bench and 12 minute mile. The hardest thing has been balancing strength training and weight loss. They are not exactly conductive for one another.

There arent many photos of me out there when I was working as the Goodyear blimp, but the one I saw for the first time the other day makes me absolutely sick.

Wow! Down almost 100lbs in less than a year. You're doing something right. The key is to have a variety of workouts so you don’t plateau. Keep up the good work bro!

Joined Gold’s Gym here in Austin at the beginning of 2013. Never went on a regular basis.

Then about a month ago, they emailed info on the Gold’s 12-week challenge. Basically, they take photos front & back (shorts only) and measurements, including % body fat. Then, they do it again after 12 weeks. It’s a national competition, but I’m doing it for personal development.

I began 1/31/14. The day before starting, I went to Whole Foods and got a large pizza (Thur. special) and a bunch of other tasty things and really blew it out. Wanted to MAX out before I started!

Then, when I went in for photos and measurements the next day, I put on the smallest shorts I could find and really pushed my stomach out, to look as bad as I possibly could. Well… maybe there is still a little competitive nature left in me after all. ;-)

Tonight I got up to 50 hard minutes (longest yet) on the elliptical trainer at 130-150 bpm. Then did 30 minutes on the machines… torso, biceps, triceps, lats & abs.

The new Gold’s in Westlake has a pool, so I’ll include that as my fitness improves. Try to work up to a mile. Many moons ago, I used to swim a mile a day at Deep Eddy.

Last month I also picked up a used Total Gym on Craigslist.

I also have the P90X DVDs that I plan to incorporate in 2 weeks.

So… once I get into the flow, I plan to work out 6 days a week, mixing Golds, P90X and swimming … and also include a Total Gym workout at home on 3 of those days… giving me 3 2-a-days, 3 single days and a rest day.

I weighed in at 222… and plan to hit 172 (or less) on 4/25/14 (12-weeks).

Twelve (12) years ago when I was diagnosed with Stage IV colon and liver cancer (doctors gave me 6 months), I rejected their “remedies” and put myself on a strict nutritional and exercise protocol (self created) and in 4 months went from 195 to 152 … and from not being able to walk up a flight of stairs to a 3 hour cycle in the hill country… so I know I can do it. I’m thinking starting 27 pounds heavier… will give me a running start on the weight loss part… theoretically that is.

$36/month at Golds… plus, visualizing Coach Moorer pushing me… and “The Pit” keeping me off the injury report… I’m confident I’ll get there.

I’ll report back on 4/25/14, FWIW.

Congrats on the weight loss man! Motivating.

Congrats man. Keep it up. I've got a very similar story. I was about 375 (I have to estimate because I wouldn't dare step on a scale when I was that big) in May of 2011. By Dec of that year I was down to 285. Then things got a little slower on the weight loss front, but I got in much better physical health. Went from not being able to run for 30 seconds straight - to running a full 10k. I'm down to 245 right now, and have about 25 more pounds until my BMI is in the normal range. My BMI has gone from a 42.2 to a 27.6. I can't even imagine how I was walking around with all that extra weight.

I work out 5 days a week alternating running, weight lifting, HIIT, and a few aerobic/weight aerobic classes now and then. I'm finally to a point where I don't think I'd embarrass myself too much in a team sport - so I'm going to take a look around and see whats out there. Changed my diet completely - went from eating well over 4k calories a day to holding somewhere around 2200 (though I do not count calories) a day. I haven't eaten Blue Bell ice cream since Jan of 2011, and I won't until I reach normal BMI. I miss it. A lot.

I looked into crossfit but couldn't find any early morning or lunch time classes. With three kids evening time workouts are nearly impossible. But everyone I know who has done Crossfit loves it.

Over the years I've done most everything from a workout standpoint. Ran competitively in HS & college and raced bicycles after I got out of college. Now I mostly do P90x and variations of the program. I have arthritis in my shoulders, hips, and left knee so I am somewhat limited in what I can do these days, I'm all about low impact. I do try to get our for a mile - two mile run a couple of times a week but that's about all my hip can handle.
