So perfectly orchestrated Iron Bowl Week

Terry article too!!!

Man almost seems on purpose

Oh wait

I would be happy with malzahn. He's not Saban but he's won and produced everywhere he's been. His offense fits in perfectly for Texas. Open checkbook for defense and let's roll.

I'd be fine with a Malzahn/Muschamp combo if we can't wait on Saban...

If Malzahn can beat Bama on Saturday it couldn't hurt either! :)

I don't think you guys catch the drift.

You don't find it interesting that all of the sudden a rumor about a saban opponent popped up on their game week??

And in the same week terry supposedly squashes the saban rumor??

Remember there was supposed to be a lot of smoke.

Malzahn is not the guy

Atleast not right now. This is an attempt by somebody.

Haven't heard who

I too would be happy with Malzhan.
Jerrod Heard would be perfect for that offense.
That's what Howe said on his podcast too. He said he couldn't think of a better QB for his system.

I understood you. Very savvy move.

Saban would be fantastic, although I would consider myself cautiously optimistic about him.

Malzahn could be a great second option, but his experience level is no where near the other coaches being mentioned. He has two years of head coaching experience at the collegiate level, one of which is at arkansas state. Consider that experience vs. the experiences of the other names mentioned on here such as Saban, Tomlin, Meyer, Harbaugh, Gruden etc.

But what about his tremendous sucess and experience as offensive coordinator in college?

-One somewhat sucessful year as oc at arkansas

-one great year at tulsa as oc

-two years at auburn as oc, one of which was fantastic with cam newton (greg davis was sucessful with vy, wanna hire him? Hindsight is 20/20 but he looked pretty good in '06)

I am all about Texas taking some risks with a potential candidate. Bob stoops had no experience as head coach when ou hired him. I think Texas tries to hire the "proven guy" rather than the "up and comer". I think the proven guy can sometimes get to the job and lose the fire to work hard since they made it especially with the huge salaries these days.

I personally think Malzahn would be a gamble but i would be excited about it. Thoughts? Anybody else have concerns about his lack of experience?

Look at Auburn's record with Malzahn on staff as either OC or HC as opposed to their record with Malzahn elsewhere. And while Malzahn was elsewhere look at the records during that time for the programs he led. He did amazing things before Cam Newton ever got to Auburn and after Cam left.

No doubt, he has done great things in his short time at auburn. Its the short part that concerns me.
