This post started with a Twitter conversation with @NavinJohnson15. He tweeted about hockey and I asked what hockey and it went from there. It reminded me of the Dallas Blackhawks and their 10c been night promotions. They did it once a month and being a broke father of two I loved going and getting sloshed. That brought me to this:

It was a hot night in Cleveland..38 years ago..It was also the end of 10c beer in sports. Cleveland was playing the Texas Rangers and everyone got sloshed and the trouble began.

First the streakers began. One after another and when they got bored with this they started throwing fireworks on the field at Ranger players.

Cleveland then cut off the beer and the place went from crazy to bat shit crazy insane. The fans stormed the field and that was the end of 10c beer night in America. Funny the Indians were actually leading the game at the time. It didn't matter because they lost 9-0 on a forfeit.

Below is a picture of the Rangers leaving the field.

I was watching the game and it was total anarchy. Notice the looks on the Rangers faces as they run for their lives. Guys with bats..Assholes from Cleveland messed up a great promo..

Great story, I am glad a had a few hours to read and comprehend it after last night. Just for the record the drinks at the Aeros games were $10 and the tickets were $45 which a friend had gotten for FREE. I am amazed at the marketing and over all business plan of this organization. Hell, you would think they would be having some kind of promo to get people to the games considering it is at the Toyota center and it was about 75% empty. Oh well I did my job and made a few to many contributions to the effort. OK I'm through ranting, Merry Christmas to everyone at Horn Sports and Happy Holidays!

$10 beer and my buddies wonder why I don't get out to more sporting events? 75% empty and people wonder why Jerry doesn't get upset by the visiting team buying tickets. They sell out every game and they market to the opposing team market. Everybody wants to come see their team beat the Cowboys. It is the national team to hate along with the Yankees.
