The Contingency Plan?

So we all have heard that the power brokers are all in on Saban and that there is not clear cut No.2 or even a No.2 at all at this time?

I have been told that is pretty much the case because the Selection Committee has not yet been assembled. Once the Mack Brown reassignment/retirement is announced the Selection Committee will be assembled. Not until then will we hear about serious contingency candidates.

With that said, it does not mean that the power brokers do not have a firm like IMG presently taking calls from agents across the country and vetting candidates. We are.

What I find is interesting is how darn sure some of the people involved are about landing Saban and others, very smart others by the way, just can't see it?

BTW, Dodds & Brown have done a very good job on convincing Powers that Saban is not a man of integrity. Is there any merit to that? I guess that depends on where your integrity line is drawn? We all know that Saban is the master of pushing the envelope and working in the gray area. However, none of his programs have been convicted of any major NCAA violations.

As you all are aware, I played my hand two weeks ago in the Hornsports Crossfire. Since then, I have been repeatedly asked, what makes you so damn confident when a lot could go wrong concerning the timing if Bama plays for the NMC?

Well I'm going to reiterate what it is that has me extremely optimistic and it is not all the housing rumors/news.

The word is; Rex Tillerson has already involved Saban in some very lucrative Oil & Gas deals but, the contingency is Saban has to be the HC at Texas.

Thanks McPhaul, I believe If Saban is already involved in these Oil & Gas deals he has a lot more to lose if he doesn't come to Texas.

McPaul, you just keep bringing the goods. Many thanks for sharing with you brother Horns!

He would rarely have to leave state for recruits except to truly cherry pick...

McPhaul...a lot of win in this post.

So how is Brown/Dodd's attempts to warn Powers and Belmont about Saban going to affect his hiring? Better yet, will they have any affect on the hiring of future candidates.

One of the few things Brown and Dodds are right about, Saban is one of the most unethical coaches as I've seen in a long time.

Thanks for the info McPhaul!!! Question? What do you mean by "grey area"? Oversigning .. As in offering 30 ships and pulling 5 from existing players? It's one thing to pull a scholly if a kid is not really trying his best( and I see nothing wrong with that ) it's another to to pull scholly from a kid that's trying his best, but doing it to make room for a stud.

2.Allowing alums to gift players , but not wanting to "know" so as to claim ignorance? We all know no program is 100% clean, but some programs send a message that behavior on the part of athetes that can get us in NCAA trouble is not tolerated.

Your thoughts McPhaul.. Many thanks! Others please your thoughts also!

Would you expound on this thought for us? What have you seen that leads you to this conclusion?

Thanks.

Over-signing and grey-shirting are NOT "grey areas" in the SECSECSEC. Their league rules allow for it, so Saban does.

Damn! The price of oil has been going down!

I guess we should all be hoping and praying that the price of oil goes up.

;)

Again, it depends on where you like ethical line is measured? Do you measure per NCAA violations? Do you measure by leaving a recruit at the alter which Saban, Bama and othe SEC schools have done?

Sabans job & focus is his program. Saban in the innovator of college football and is not scared to death to play close to that line. That is a trait that most innovators possess.

I'm fine with Saban but if I had the choice I might just take John Harbaugh. That guy is a hell of a football coach and is just 51 years old. Much younger than Saban. I just hope that other coaches are being considered and that it isn't all in on Saban. The people making this decison need to have an open mind and really think about everything when deciding who to pursue. Harbaugh would do great things at Texas. I would love Briles too.

Would you expound on this thought for us? What have you seen that leads you to this conclusion? Thanks.
He had to fire a assistant coach this season alone for paying players. He knew, just like he knew Richardson was paid off. A guy like Saban, who is so anal about everything, knows what is going on when comes to extra benefits. Also, the way he manages rosters is about the worst a coach can do. You wonder how good his teams would be if he didn't cut 5-10 guys every season to make room for other guys.

I was on the fence a month ago about Saban. But the more I hear from some peeps tied in with the program. Their are some that honestly think it's a done deal.

I just keep going back to if Saban really wanted to just get a raise and stay at bama, that could of happen months ago. I believe Saban wants Texas

The philosophical approach created by Mack and Dodds is the fundamental reason Texas football is currrently struggling. This is a competition. You do whatever it takes to win so long as it is within the major rules and not an issue of moral value.

Besides, Mack does many of the same things. He is just good at politics. In fact, I think Saban has had fewer off the field issues than Brown.

Politics and money play a roll here. Alabama doesn't care about the media or flushing the toilet. Texas avoids it at all costs.

It's not a Saban vs. Brown battle. It is a difference in approach at Texas and Alabama.

Same goes for Urban Meyer.in the SEC.

My brother-in-law is a consultant for Rex at Exxon. I should see if he knows anything.
