In my opinion these were the top players at each position. One of the toughest positions to sort was was WR. Putting Jordan Shipley in front of Roy Williams was tough but after looking at Texas' receiving records (http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/tex/sports/m-footbl/auto_pdf/records_ind_receiving.pdf) I felt that was right. Also looking at Jaxon Shipley's stats through 3 years I think with a big year, which is capable, I think he deserved a spot on the list. The Offensive Line is kind of a "place wherever you want too after Davis." Also Linebacker wasn't the easiest thing, after Johnson, the rest were kind of mix-and-match. Robinson had the most tackles through his four years but the Acho brothers were tied with the most TFL's with 32.5 through there seasons. 3 were tied for the most interceptions. When it gets to Safety, they were all top-tier players while wearing the Burnt Orange. All 4 could easily take the top spot. I personally think this is pretty cool, seeing what Coach Brown has done for Texas football over the past 16 years. Tell me what you think.

Overall a good list. . . my "adjustments" below. . . .

At QB, leaving Simms off is statistically wrong. . .I get the emotion but time to erase the hate

Case for Simms. . .2 of the best yardage seasons vs 1 for Applewhite, 4th in wins vs 8th (though this a bit bogus, it's a team game still, they track it)  Simms top 5 TD passes season. . .Major ahead by 2 for career (virtual tie). . . ..

The difference between the 2 . .too close to call (que the emotional commentary) both had good games and poor. . ..

I'd have listed 2 and left it at that. . . .

JC over Ced Benson. . . . sorry, Benson disappeared in big games.  Ricky and JC well over a full ypc better

OL, you can go with 5 but you left off Jay Humphrey All American .. . .I go with a 1st 5 of Davis, Humphrey, Blaylock, Dockery and Williams

WR. . .Kwame Cavil . . keep in mind that Limas Sweed isn't even in the top 10 of single season yards. . . Kwame is #2  ahead of Roy

DE. . .Aaron Humphrey was both AA and a terror . .. EASILY a top 4 guy. . .

I'll say it too, Chuck......putting Applewhite on this list and not putting Simms on it is wrong, IMO.

Also is strange to me that we aren't including NFL careers, yet listing them with their NFL draft status?

Good call on Aaron Humphrey, cheese. We were talking about what a force he was. just last night.

I realize you've got to use stat's for a list like this (to be "objective"), but that makes for a few positions (notably WR & S) being out of order, IMO.

I agree with most of this, especially about Simms. A lot of fans don't appreciate him because of Major, but he was a very good QB. One player I'd consider adding is Mike Davis over a guy like BJ Johnson.

The defensive back position had to be difficult...there were so many good ones. I'd put Huff over Vaccaro and Ross above Williams just because of longevity.

Great list, though!

CB - I would add Terrell Brown to the list.  He's the most underrated CB to play at Texas.

It's DBU though.......can't put everyone on there?

Back in the days I had enough clout to sneak into closed practices. . . I got to meet Aaron Humphrey when he was working for the Austin Arena team . .. .

Damn but he married well, really nice guy too. . . .

He was a terror off the edge. . .another guy would have challenged that list had he not been injuried (hell, we can make a great team of . . .if not for injuries) was Brian Pickryl. .. . reminded me a ton of AH. . . .

Jay Humprey is another great guy who came and spoke to us at our Dallas Lunch Bunch (which everyone is invited to when you are in the DFW area) .. .

Both AA's for TEXAS .. . ..

PS, my take on the Simms/Applewhite debate .. . .I cheered for the burnt orange under center. . . but was unafraid to challenge some of the hate posted about either . .. . .

Chris Simms, as a whole, doesn't get the love he deserves.

Young man named his daughter Sienna. . . .

My wife (a 12 year Horn convert) had to tell me that Sienna is the Crayola color of Burnt Orange. . . .

It is a shame he's never returned here . .. he fears he'll be booed and knowing the lack of character of some of our fans, I'm sure he would be. . . .

His only crime. . .leaving everything he had on the field. . . .

How that is not respected is beyond me.
