*****Texas vs. USC Game Thread*****

Thought this was won after the TD.  Deflating but a great defensive performance I didn't expect.

If our defense continue to play like this we win the big 12

#FIRETIMBECK is already trending on twitter... I will do my part to spread it. The man is absolutely horrible. We had EVERY opportunity to win this game.

I finally feel some positivity for the future... outside of Beck. The D was amazing(that's what she said)! But again we screwed ourselves with 10 penalties for 73 yards.

We should have won!!! HOOK EM! Keep progressing!

Not usually one to say it, but there's been some home cooking for SC.

This defense keeps that play up and our next 5 games are going to all be in our favor. It was truly amazing watching them fly around literally hitting them in the mouth. Was soft football crap we have seen the last 3 years. THAT WAS TEXAS. And hell of a try for a freshman QB SHA he had the moxie man. He laid it all on the line. The Big 12 literally better watch out.

Yea I think this team now belongs to Sam. The defense, led by MJ, was awesome.  Tough loss but bright future.  Beck and the refs no calls hurt us but we still hung with them even without Conner

Great game..I am very diappointed Horns lost...effort from the guys was awesome!! The only red flags come from the coaching staff mostly from the offense..what was the game plan? Looks like beck was determined not to run warren..sam and jerrod got more called runs wth? Beck decided to throw more with sam .Buchelle is the better passer at this point why not use him? Sam was 21-42 for 298 decent yds but low completion pct. Buchelle would have done better pct and less mistakes imo...baffling play calls ftom beck..Orlandos defense kicked ass outside of 2 plays

So what happens with Shane? We just trash a kid that had and HAS so much upside and potiential? Honestly asking your opinion. I though Sam shined some in the end but still do not thing he's ready to lead this team. For every great pass there were 4 bad ones... then all the TO's.

I remember being in a basketball tournament as a kid that required 2 losses to get knocked out. We lost to an inner city powerhouse team by 2 points. We knew we were good but didnt know how good... anyways we were crushed after the loss.

My coach was so god damn giddy and happy after the game. I asked why, we just lost. He said after what he saw he knew we were going to not only make it to the championship game but were going to smoke the team we juat lost to.

We ended up doing just that. I know we lost but after what i saw i know that we have a good team that is goimg to wreck havok  moving forward. We found out how much of a weapon sam and collin johnson are and our defense is the real deal. We need a new OC but we will be ok. 9 win team is what i saw.

I came into this game thinking that I'd be OK if the Horns stayed within 2 scores of USC. Instead, they lose by 3 in double OT and I feel like I'm going to throw up. I haven't felt this sick after a loss since Cal.

If I were on the defense, I'd be pissed. The defense played their best game in several years, and the offense looked horrid. I'd be more OK with that if it were a talent issue or something. But it wasn't. The talent was there. Chris Warren III is averaging 6.7 ypc throughout his career, and he gets 4--FOUR--carries in one of the biggest games of the year. We line up for 4th and short on several occasions, and Warren is kicking dirt on the sidelines. We try and ram the ball in from the 3 yard line with our 2nd string QB rather than our 255# bowling ball of a running back. I lay the majority of blame for this loss on Tim Beck. He is shaping up to be a worse hire than Shawn Watson. I don't think it'll happen, but I think Beck needs to be let go during the bye week, just like Bedford should've been let go during the bye week last year.

Also, we have GOT to stop shooting ourselves in the foot. Too many penalties, too many botched snaps, too many special teams miscues (looking at you, Reggie). If the offensive playcalling was better, we would've won handily. If we didn't have so many self-inflicted wounds, we would've won handily. Instead, it's another loss.

Overall though, I'm encouraged by what I saw on the field. The defense has made the Maryland performance look like an anomaly. Sam has gotten quite a bit of big game experience. Now if we can stop shooting ourselves in the foot at inopportune times, we might be able to overcome the ineptitude at OC and come away from this season with a decent record.

Texas gained Respect on prime time TV, something they haven't had since 2009. Can't wait to listen to talk radio Monday morning. There back folks. They truly are. Now that they tasted this blood they'll b goin for the kill.

I know there is going be lots of discussion about the qbs..sam made many mistakes as you can expect for a freshman starting 2nd game but  if shane had started this game and made the exact same plays good and bad that sam made. How many people woild be calling for his head? Sam is still to raw imo..best chance to win against ou,okst, kst is with shane...offense was terrible tonite..qb play was part of it...sam is a stud and will be the man just dont believe he is ready yet.
